Have you sold gold and are wondering whether the tax office will find out about it and whether tax is due? In this video, I explain why it is so important that you document the purchase and sale of gold, even if it is done privately.
You will learn how you can sell gold tax-free as a private investor in Germany, even if you don't have proof of purchase.
Normally, the profit from the sale of gold is taxable within one year of purchase. But what if you can't prove when you bought it? I'll show you how you can still prove the one-year holding period.
You'll also find out when the tax office becomes suspicious and how banks and gold dealers must report money laundering. I also explain the special rules for gold from gifts or inheritance and the exemption limit for gains of less than 1000 euros from 2024.
If you own securities rather than physical gold, different tax rules sometimes apply. Commercial gold traders also have to take a few things into account. I'll tell you when profits end up in the SO annex of your tax return and what you could face if you evade tax.
You can find out everything you need to know about tax-free gold sales in this video! If it helped you, give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more tax tips.

= About Perspektive Ausland (perspective abroad) =
Anyone who wants to move as an entrepreneur or freelancer from German-speaking countries to (tax-efficient) foreign countries or become a digital nomad has a lot of tax and legal questions.
Country selection, international tax law, setting up a company abroad, exit tax, visas, capital investments and asset protection - these are just some of the topics that you now have to deal with.
Perspektive Ausland (perspective abroad) is a German podcast from London that deals with exactly such questions. No matter what your motivation for moving abroad is - less taxes, more freedom or a higher quality of life - you've come to the right place.
