In any other division, I’d say they’re a lock. In the Atlantic, I can’t be quite so sure.

Yes, they are a playoff team. You can call me biased because I am indeed a Sens fan, but we haven't seen what they can do with a clean bill of health. These past three games have been a taste, but they have the roster to WIN the Atlantic if they manage to avoid the injury bug this year. I truly believe that.

19 goals scored in the 1st 4 games. Most they have scored in their 1st 4 games EVER in franchise history. That means the PIZZA line has never scored that many in their 1st 4 games. Their previous most was 17. Yes they're a playoff team.

The energy in the arena this year just feels different. The crowd at home games possesses this team and they feed off it. I've seen a lot of hockey live and it's never been like this inside the CTC.

I don’t think it’s the same; this might be a core they can actually GROW with as opposed to a hastily put together serious one-year contender. they might not go as deep as 2017 but they will be back next year. and the one after that. more chances to actually get to the finals imo

Can't wait for Saturday's game against my Wings. Both teams have looked pretty good so far. Very similar stats for each team. I could see this developing into a lil rivalry between Sens and Wings. Lets GOOOOOOO!! LGRW!!!!!

Great breakdown of the team and analysis. I want to believe, but you make some good points about the few previous years (especially last year). Looking at all their pieces, however, they are looking like playoff contenders this year. It looks like all their pieces are in place, and adding the likes of Tarasenko as you mentioned, who's been red-hot, it's a huge bonus. If the goaltending can hold the fort to a reasonable extent, then I think the players will hop off the train at destination Playoffs. Here's hoping (and believing)

Getting 2 different #1 defencemen in the space of a single season added to their core (Sandy and Chyc) took a bottom 5 defence and makes it look tops in the east. That's the story to watch with this year's Sens. (Also their speed with the puck. Good lord it's off their sticks so quick, no ones carrying it too long. The chemistry is really nailed in)

I think that Brady isn't going to let himself or the rest of the guys down as I think Matthew relit a fire in him. That's been the most impressive thing about the Sens start as Brady is a goal a game rn.

Great question but last year's struggles came from terrible injuries without depth to replace it. If we have average amounts of injuries (like 2-3 top 9 F/top 4 D) out at a time, our depth is now at a point where we can survive and maybe even thrive. I have high hopes for the boys this year

Definitely a team to keep an eye on, I’m a big fan of korpisalo in net, and that defense is great. I think give it a few years, and hopefully they lock down some contracts for a solid core that can develop. What kills this team is constantly getting gutted, seems to not have found its identity, but maybe this is the year they find it.

They have all the pieces, and so far, the big difference compared to last year, is that they're scoring lots 5 on 5, plus the power play is still lights out. Let's see, but if they can stay mostly healthy, they're a lock in my opinion. GO SENS GO!!!

As long as the team stays healthy. Their depth still seems to be paper thin especially at defence and even more so if the team needs to move Brannstrom to sign Pinto. Their forward group can take a hit this year (having Pinto and Norris out early shows that) but I personally wouldn’t rely too heavily on guys that should develop in the AHL a bit longer.

If Josh Norris can stay healthy and Shane Pinto signs and plays… Then I don't see how they miss the playoffs. Goaltending is a strength and more importantly the defence is elite now. That's been their weakness for six years... I am predicting a top three spot for Ottawa in the division.

The forward roster is good, though the bottom six is a bit weak. The defensive pairings...I don't love. The problem imo is that the defensive zone coverage has been problematic for years and the "solution" always seems to be "outscore the mistakes". That hasn't worked and isn't going to work this time around. I'm not sold on Korpisalo either, though if the team could tighten up coverage in front of them he could be good enough to anchor the team with Forsberg seeing roughly equal time. The team needs to cut down the quality of shots against and I don't see any improvement there over last year.

They didn't miss the playoffs by much last year and this year they're even better. Norris and Tarasenko will easily replace DeBrincat and the defense is fast and mobile. If Kubalik keeps playing with Norris and Batherson he will put up some points as well. The goaltending tandem of Korpisalo and Forsberg is the best they've had in a decade or more. It would be nice if they could get Pinto back in the mix without losing an important player but, at least for now, the pressure's off.

I thought they’d be better last year too but DeBrincat kinda flopped and the Norris injury was huge. That being said, I don’t see any reason they should be bad this year. Anything could happen of course, but I think they’ve been a better team than their results have show for a while now so I kind of think they’re gonna finally make that jump.

I think this is the year they make it Atlantic is tough but they finally have depth and now that Norris is back and Sanderson looks like he could be in the Norris conversation already idk they look good on paper so we'll see coach and management will be gone if they fail

One extra point, Sens play in a division that has been the most competitive for the last 4-6 years. If they had been in the Pacific the last 2 years, they probably make the playoffs.
