Just got off the phone with Sol-ark tech support the other day, 15K should be released Q1 2022! Also just want to let the community know the Nyle e8 air-source heat pump retro-fit DHWH (formerly know as Geyser) will be back on the market around April 2022 from Nyle systems 🙏 (great off grid, less energy intense system. E775 has installed in the past (see video) but system was discontinued sadly...

Does the Lumin smart panel do the same thing as the solark load manager? Are there any other devices that do the same thing? Are these load manager panels the next wave in resi solar and will they eventually be standard in all installs?

I Would love to able to have a system. Would I be able to have a system like this after the meter system? How many panels would we need? Looking for a system that isn’t tied to our grid power provider. I know you probably need specs on appliances we are led on all our lighting. We have a single family house 3500’ brand new, with all the typical appliances all electric. As well as a central heating furnace and ac.

Did you mean to say 8kwh to heat a 55 gallon tank from well water temp to 120f? 80 seems really high. It's about 2 hours at 4500w right? Love watching your videos, I have plans to take our house off grid in the future.
@ekbuz
@ekbuz 2 года назад
That sounds like valid numbers. If you look at the first hour gallons on electric hot water heaters, a 50 gal is only something like ~70 gal. So in 1 hour it will only replenish ~20 gal. You need a lot of electricity to heat water.
@toolate6971

88 kWh to heat 80 gallons of well water 57F to 120F? I don’t think so. Try 10-15 kwh. Because I use 60 (summer) 80 (winter) kWh per day for my whole house. We take three or four showers per day with an 80 gal wh.

Does anyone know if the Sol-Ark transformerless inverters have circuitry to detect the DC output that can occur if an output switch semiconductor fails or the controller fails? And if so, it must active a hard switch such as a contactor or relay at the output to do a disconnect. I have watched transformerless inverters fail and burn up loads with high voltage and high current DC outputs. Hopefully supported with documentation from the manufacturer.

I always thought to never place any batteries directly on the ground because it drains the battery and shorting the lifespan of battery. Why not place a rubber mat on the ground then place batteries on top of rubber mat? Afterthought, your panel setup is stationary. (I don’t know what’s it called - but somehow have automatically aligned solar panels in direct sunlight to gain maximum efficiency and why not take a mirror and direct sunlight to the panels?
@maverickmacgyver
@maverickmacgyver 2 года назад
The lead acid battery on the floor issue is gone due to modern plastic case batteries. Plus, these are lithium iron phosphate batteries in steel cases with steel riser legs. Also, solar trackers were popular back when PV module prices were much higher. Now, it is cheaper to buy more panels than to make a mechanical tracker.
