It’s amazing how these old machines just seem to want to start. Good couple of days with a pressure washer and the machinery will be like new. Keep up the good work.
Top old crane steve. We had an ex-RAF crane at the yard based on an old Major, bloody top heavy and dangerous it was on anything other than flat ground. Im still here to tell the tale though🤣🏴🇬🇧
It is a good old crane mate. Yes some were dangerous, especially when turning or slewing. I have one the same as this and it isn’t too bad really. Not top heavy like the one you were using. They were over engineered some and added to the weight in a big way
Started easy once you got her to spin over , just a little drama till it cleared the air in the fuel system . Thanks for the video mate, always good to see what going on there . 🌵
Good to hear someone calling it rope as in wire rope as that is what it is, not cable but I don’t care what anyone calls it as I often do say cable also. I’ve seen hydraulics be slow and wine like that when intake screen is restricted.
Was full of oil but yes could be a suction screen blocked. Nothing is in a shed here so water and condensation this time of the year could be getting in
G'day Steve , Thanks for another cool vid . Ya just can't beat a couple of Aussie fellas having a chat about stuff . The old crane was up to the task ,no worries,a drop of oil & she's as good as new. Respect....!
Hay Steve it's another video and i'll watch it for sure it looks like the old girl was just weighing for someone to come along and wake her up from a long Nap runs nice and everything works on it as other chap say give her a barth in some degreaser and a pressure wash you wont recognize her Big Cheers mate
Hey nice, I've got one of these too! Mine's got a cab and the jib extension with the rope, but this one is a different setup to mine too. The paper mill I did my apprenticeship had one too, basically identical setup to mine with the cab etc. Very handy bit of gear with an experienced operator in the seat but I'm told very easy to tip over if you're not careful!
@@stevesplacedownunder Looking forward to it! I need to find a wrecked Chamberlain and get the hood off it, mine was already shit but I accidentally.... ran over it the other day 😅
@@stevesplacedownunder Unfortunately the last tractor wrecker here in Tassie closed a few years ago. Though I do have a lead on an old fella with a paddock full of tractors that likes cash!
Steve, Question: On the basses that providing you disconnect the loom, you can double the input to the starter for a short time, just to get it going. Is that also true for 24 volt, doubled to 48, or is there a limit? Can't see why there would be, and sounds a bit of a daft question to ask, but you never know until you know and i don't so i thought I'd ask the Boss.
You probably could hit it with 24 but I don’t think it would last long. Hitting a 6 volt with 12 doesn’t hurt at all though. There were a few hot connections that needed looking at on it. I went around them all when connecting the jumper leads
Not my dad, and it keeps blokes active. You cant work all your life and stop and not tinker. If that’s what he wants to do then that’s what he will do. If you actually knew this bloke, and how he actually does relax, you wouldn’t have written this. He relaxes way more than what you see in this short video. Your comment is so far from how it actually is
