in regards to Val, I think the most likely outcomes are that he either plays for the Avs or they mutually agree to terminate the contract and he goes to play in Russia. I do think Gabe will make it back and play the majority of the season. they might hold him out of back to back situations and stuff like that, but i think he'll be playing. Shaggy, you mentioned him compensating for the injury and risking something else and that is exactly what happened here. He got the initial injury when he got cut by Makar's skate in the bubble. That never healed properly, and the following two years he was always compensating for the injury in his skating stride. He has mentioned in a couple of interviews that a big part of his recovery and rehab will be re-learning how to skate properly because he had allowed so many bad habits to creep into it. Drouin's agent said on his podcast that this deal is following his philosophy of "don't f*** with happy". they agreed on the one year deal and mutually agreed to restart the talks in January on a long term extension.

I love val and let's be honest the avs are a small team so his size is needed but he's not reliable and I feel he needs to go. Seems to me like landy's career is circling the drain, even if he comes back he will probably be a shadow of his former self.

The Russian: He will not return and stays in Russia, probably gets a gig in the KHL. Landeskog: He will find out in training that it does not work anymore, will not play a minute again in the NHL. Rantanen: As MacFarland is cheap, he might offer him something around $9.5M, and Rantanen will find a team that will pay more like $11M - he will depart.

To me, it seems Val is incapable of learning this lesson. He falls off time and time again, even when he's got a wife and newborn relying on him. NHLPA can only genuinely help someone who's interested in getting better

Nichushkin? Too risky. Does he still inspire confidence with team mates? I doubt it. He will be gone. Landy? He will never be the same player he once was. Likely retires. Hope I'm wrong.

@@solvingpolitics3172 absolutely but, there’s no breach of contract in place and nobody would trade for him without fleecing the Avs and can’t waive him or buy him out bc it is part of the salary cap til he’s payed off. Stupid dilemma, but the fact that he’s also just such a fucking good hockey player is also conflicting lmao

When it comes to val I really think he gets one more shot. And if not then trade him to the oilers. As apparently they have a history of taking players like Val into their organization. Like they have Kane and perry so...might explain they're cup drought a bit. And if landy comes back. I'm going to be honest. I don't see him ever being in the first or possibly even the second line again. As I think his injury will take its toll one way or another.
