Now that seems like insensitivity. Their defending a group that doesn't want to be defended. It's like taht one guy who objects at a marriage just because it's an option
So what matters is intent, for example just wearing traditional Chinese clothes is not offensive, but wearing Chinese clothes and doing a fake Chinese accent for Halloween probably is.
The fact is that when people see other people wear something of their culture they don't get mad cuz of cultural appropriation but rather they get very happy of seeing other people spread and accept their culture.
The problem is he’s wearing the outfits to provoke a reaction , mic in his hand randomly wearing an outfit. Sucks tho white culture doesent exist so he has to wear other cultures attire.
But when someone that is not of that culture sees it, they get offended and triggered, then try to cancel because its "racist and wrong", not saying that that is everyone but most of the world, mainly in the united states are like this and it's so stupid. In my opinion you don't necessarily have the right to get offended or say its wrong if you are not of that culture.

@Natsoc kaiser dude this isn't a discussion on how society should run or what you think works and doesn't if you think your ideals are so great then why are you not in a position of power to make the change you think is so great so I say this In the most unkind way stfu and go back to your blog with that crap
@NatSoc Kaiser Hmmm. May I remind you that Germany fell after its leader had unified all its people that had been separated by external wars and internecine feuds. The fact about the beginning of the Roman failure was not so much the incursion of the Huns, but internal corruption. To pun Leni Riefenstahl, it was the failure "of the Will" of its people to overthrow the corruption. As for the incursions, the Democratic Party (aka communists by what they do) is following the same formula which led to the Roman destruction: shipping large numbers of these unassimilated alien people all around the country, of whom do not speak the native tongue (English/Latin), have no money, and show little interest in assimilating as well, not only bringing their diseases but also a foreign culture which had already FAILED their homogeneous group to begin with. You should read about the uprisings that occurred under the last Roman "kaiser." And I am not fooled by your tag, "NatSoc", as that is for national socialist. Or, by another name, NAZI. It's through a nation's will to survive, to direct funding for assimilation of new peoples that gives a nation its best chance at survival. It is a guarantee of failure, if all this neo-Marxist Woke crap being peddled by American academia that will make an entire generation of useful idiots, but guarantee a generation of disenfranchised, broken perpetual revolutionaries. All this Hegelian-Marxist Critical Theory gobbledigook is what creates agitated divisions by race, or sexual proclivity. The "dirty Marxist" formula of "class struggle" between the proletariat and bourgeoise FAILED. Miserably. Some pretty nasty tools were learned along the way: Mao's "re-education camps" and Cultural Revolutions, Stalin's Gulags, Iron Curtains among others kept people in check for a while. But in the end, even the survivors of the brainwashing say that none of it worked. And the same goes for the tactics of Paulo Frieré, Herbert Mercuse, and Jeroux and others who peddle this Critical theory crap. But, back to you....national socialism doesn't work: fails due to a lack of accountability. And Kaiser Bill was a miserable, arrogant idiot who singlehandedly wrecked Germany. Despite him, the German peoples, from Catholic Bavaria to the northern Lutherans are a smart, industrious and proud people, and can thrive, together, if left alone. Just ship the Muslims back to Turkey and start making babies again!
And I as a Nigerian, I love to see people wearing our cultural clothes, eating our food, speaking our language or even just appreciating our traditions in general. Cultural appropriation doesn’t exist outside outright mocking and disrespecting someone’s culture.

An Indian friend of mine invited me to a wedding and dressed me up in a sari. I travelled home still wearing it and people spoke to me, asking why I was wearing it, was I married to an Indian, had I converted to Hinduism etc, we talked and laughed together but the best moment was when an elderly Indian couple gave me the biggest smile and clapped as I walked towards my train. The origin of braids can be traced back 5000 years in African culture to 3500 BC-they were very popular among women. Braids are not just a style; this craft is a form of art. Braiding started in Africa with the Himba people of Namibia. These people have been braiding their hair for centuries long before Nordic, Greeks, or Romans. Egyptian sculptures have even been found with these hairstyles. So, don’t use braids as your “Aha Moment”….. His mistake was saying that he made the videos to “prove” a point, instead of trying to do unbiased research and simply gather information. I don’t care one way or the other if anyone wears braids, but learn the facts and stop operating through blatant McCarthyism’s

i dont see how it can be offensive to wear a culture as a costume, especially for halloween. you only get to do that once a year and it should be great that they out of all the things they could have dressed up as they chose your culture
At my friend's wedding, one of the bride's friend was Black but she wore a tradition Saree to an Indian Wedding. I actually felt happy, and alot of my elders agree. They love her.
Well said. I wish everyone thought the same today. I think people actually are naturally interested in different cultures. Some people do find that they actually like a different culture-a different way of life-better than what they’ve done. If they choose to change and live differently I don’t see why that’s an issue. For example, trying different hair styles, eating different food. Clothing I actually think we kind of do that already. If you go anywhere in the world you’ll find jeans, t-shirts, etc. and various styles of that. I personally love wrap style dresses, they look good on me-and I believe that’s actually a Japanese influenced style. Basically modern clothes ARE a mix of styles. And honestly I am personally tired of jeans and t-shirts. Clothing in the past whether western or eastern were much more beautiful in many ways. The intricate embroidery, long dresses or robes (for men), etc. Even just hats-which aren’t worn at all in the west at least. I wouldn’t mind if we all decided to upgrade our clothing to something nicer. The outfit he’s wearing for example is very nice. But I guess that’s a pipe dream. Modern clothing is all simplicity.

I’m Indian, we do like it, and it’s a sign of respect for our culture when you do so. On a related note, I had a white (woke) friend who was so reluctant (for fear of cultural appropriation) to wear an Indian suit I got him for an Indian party/event I invited him to that it could easily be taken in the wrong way, and cause offence… ironic that his hypersensitivity to being respectful made him come across just the opposite.
"Don't wear Chinese clothes, it's cultural appropriation! It's insensitive! " ......"Don't you eat Chinese food? Isn't that cultural appropriation? " Got ya!
It’s not about wearing Chinese clothes. That’s not cultural appropriation. It’s only cultural appropriation if you do it in a stereotypical way. Like if you wear a Native American war bonnet with spiritual and cultural significance in a “sexy Indian” costume.
@@mickybro2363 That is nothing like what I said. Actually having sex with someone of a certain nationality has nothing to do with the fetishization of their culture. An Indian war bonnet is a spiritual symbol and using it in a “sexy Indian” costume is extremely disrespectful. If you are using cultural symbols accurately and respectfully, it is not appropriation. Let’s give an example: Say a popular white film director chooses to make a movie about ancient china. They hire a team of experts, including Chinese people, to ensure their show is accurate to Chinese culture. This is not appropriation, because the show would not misrepresent Chinese culture. On the other hand, say that same film director hired an all white cast and no consultants. He just took a guess at what he thinks Chinese culture looks like and the setting becomes a caricature of Chinese culture. This is disrespectful to actual Chinese people. Look at Disney’s live action Mulan remake, which is a clear example of this in action.

It's absolutely true, I remember when I visited my mexican girlfriend's sister, and we were about to leave, both of them came out dressed in traditional Indian clothes, and it made me so damn happy. Whether it's wearing traditional clothes of another country while you're in that country, or wearing a traditional clothing well, as long as they're doing it well, that's cultural appreciation. Edit : I'm Indian and lived there until the age of 23, after which I moved to Canada to study, being in a place so far away from home, and seeing people people try out traditional clothes and appreciating them and their familiarity is to me, a really positive thing. And I appreciate it

I'm getting old. And it comforts me to see something of my ancestors culture that I grew up with. Especially now that it's not around anymore and is a box inside of me full of memories that I love.
We, Filipinos, are so happy and proud when we see foreigners eat our food or wear our traditional Filipinianas. We want our culture shared to others not keep it only to ourselves. How can we appreciate and understand one another when we don't put ourselves in someone else's shoes?
My family (USA) are originally from the Phillipines, just bred with a bunch of whites. My great grandad Armando is still kickin, but he didn't teach us Tagalog. I tell you what though, my Dad used to make a fantastic chicken adobo. I just made myself some and sinangag the other day.
on Halloween, i'm a Filipina living in the US. I once saw a little girl that dressed as our traditional clothing and she held a little philippine flag. i loved her because the first thing i thought of is that 'wow, she knows about our culture and she embraces it' i took a pic with her btw
That was so cute of her! I'm Spanish, and once I saw a non spanish girl wearing a typical dress from my country,it was really cute! People need to know the difference between cultural appropiation and cultural appreciation
My buddy dressed up as a Korean grandma at Halloween in Korea. When he pitched the idea online he was told it was racist. But he asked a Korean Co worker and they said it might be stupid but not offensive. So he went for it. When I tell you around 200 Korean people that night wanted photos with him when out partying I am not exaggerating. He couldn’t get from one bar to the next. He had the time of his life.
OMG LOL you need to travel more 🤣 He was getting 'crazy celebrity' type attention, NOT 'omg, so creative...so cool" attention. Let me tell you another story. I was in the Peace Corps for 4 years in Peru. Zero times did I have locals want a picture with me. But everytime I went hiking with another peace corps volunteer that was black...ALL the locals wanted selfies with her. And according to her, this happened ALL THE TIME. Many would not even ask, just approach her and take the selfie. Were they doing it because they thought she was celebrating their culture? Were they doing it because they wanted to know more about her? No and no. They wanted a picture of something 'new', 'crazy', far out of the norm, to share with their friends, family and people on social media. Same thing happened with your friend in Korea.
@@avilesnba I disagree. I know what you mean by your friend’s anecdote but I can guarantee it was more of whoa it’s cool to see a non-Korean to dress up as Korean grandma. It’s like a really good inside joke for people who understand what you’re dressed up as. I’d love to talk to that friend and ask him why he decided to dress up as Halmoni. Plus there are so many foreigners in Korea - Koreans already passed the curious “can I touch your skin/hair” phase a long time ago.
Wait until white people makes korean food and they said its authentic but eliminating most of the ingredients and technics your ancestor used to use.. lol
and as a Filipino, if I saw someone wearing a Filipiniana/Maria Clara or any other Filipino traditional clothes, I'd also be really fascinated and happy that someone is appreciating our culture hehe
