Ben, I love how respectful and excited you are about trees. :) I'm super impressed with how good the skirting looks - especially the blocks. Looks super sharp and clean. Great job!
Ben~ I am the 6th generation on family property, my great grandfather took oak and maple seedlings like you did and strategically planted all over the property..he is long gone but those seedlings he planted so long ago are standing tall and some provide shade, some firewood, and feed for the pigs when the acorns fall…and lots of fall beauty. You should do the same..as a family when we gather someone always brings up how gorgeous the mature trees we have are and we thank him! Happy Thanksgiving Hollars and many blessings ❤
Love your background music intro. Next, I'd like to see Meg's garden come to fruition in the spring. That red clay in n c. I remember it. You all are such dear people. Thank you for all you share, Ben and Meg. God bless you all.
Good morning Ben. Awesome job on the skirting project. I did that as a job when I was a sprout and of course I started the job in the winter and it was a wet muddy miserable job in northwest Oregon. Don’t you just love all the experts telling you what you are doing wrong before the job is half done. We never put ventilation grates in until after the skirting was all up. Thank you for making the job twice or more longer by filming it. It’s really great seeing how much the kids are always around helping or just watching. Either way once you learn something you can’t unlearn it. 40 Shades of Green Farm, west Tennessee ❤
Thank you God for the Hollar Family. They bring joy to our hearts and are such wonderful role models . Thanksgiving blessings to you Hollar Family! 🍁❤🇺🇸.
Seeing your kids' involvement in all of the different aspects of farming (starting as a toddler) it's clear to see why it was always so easy to tell when I had farm kids in my physics classes. They just know how stuff works.
I am the youngest of 5 children and the brother right above me is 6 years older than me. Watching Corbin and Buggy under the mobile home watching Dad brought back a lot of memories. He and I are still very close and we are in our 70s now. She will never forget those times playing with her brother.
Bless your heart...all the work you are trying to get done, you stop to dig up mini pine trees for your little girl. Blessings for you and all your family this Thanksgiving week.
Thank you, Buggie, for letting us know that was comfrey 😊you are so knowledgeable in the crops you raise. Later in the video, Daddy mentioned Comfrey, too
Bravo on your progress so far in installing the skirting. It improves your curb appeal considerably. Like coloring inside the lines, not functionally important, but is aesthetically pleasing. Always an incredibly good feeling inside when we get those tasks finished that have been put off. Ben, you and your family are always busy and work hard and tirelessly! Looking forward to knowing you all will be feeling warmer this winter. Homes and farms are always a work in progress. Strong work Ben and family!
That is the most beautiful and sturdy skirt on a mobile home that I have ever seen. Your little girl is inquisitive, hardworking and I notice she now loves to teach people. Your boys are also good workers and nice boys. I love your family because you have not become arrogant, you are family oriented, hardworking and just very nice. Happy Thanksgiving.
Ben, for future reference with Oaks, its not a big deal if the tap root gets cut, as eventually the lateral roots take over as the main support system. Never hurts to get it all if possible, but yeah like with that bigger sapling, get it out, and replant it elsewhere. With all of those acorns every year, might be a good idea to get a system together for producing saplings each year and getting a more wooded area of your property slowly turned into a more oak dominant wooded area. Would be perfect for pig silvopasture, especially in the fall.
Even with vents, we still had humidity issues. To fix it, we sealed all of our vents, then added a humidity controlled exhaust fan and a dehumidifier. It's working great! -Mike
I love the colors in the leaves on those baby Oak trees. If they survive, they will be so beautiful. And giving them the Hunger Games blessing should guarantee they'll grow. Additionally, Buggy is better at identifying types of baby trees than I am, at 61 years old. Lol
Happy Thanksgiving Hollar family. The skirting looks awesome. Buggy always has to be near daddy and that is so adorable! She is learning your trade AND her mama's. Nothing better than smelling the smoker going. FYI I had a cabin in the N. Ga mountains. The crawl space was ALL mold. I had it taken care of with new ground cover. I then had a local carpenter seal it up NO VENTS and then I installed a crawl space dehumidifier. It kept it so dry it worked like a charm. So even though you have vents does not mean there won't be mold. The mold remediators suggested I seal it up and put the crawl space dehumidifier under the house. Cost next to nothing to run also. I was pleasantly surprised. 5 years not a speck of mold and in the winter I would unplug it and drain the drain line.

Hey Hollers, I trust you know what you're doing Ben👍. They say high winds are shaking the Smoky Mountains from Hurricane Winds😳! It must be headed your way! We were supposed to get 1-4" of Snow...its ice balling😢! I'll work for that Bacon☺️. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 have a lovely day💗. JO JO IN VT 💞
Wow, that smoker for the bacon is great! It looks like you're back to just you working on the skirting. Cool, you can grow some oaks! We can sympathize with you Ben that it always takes longer than you think to get something done. We had to replace a bury 6' frost free farm hydrant with shovels and a hand powered post hole digger. That took my wonderful husband 2 days to dig out. To install the new hydrant took a whole day with getting needed plumbing parts and getting it leak free. Then two days on rigging up a place for the weep hole to drain to since an obstruction was below the hydrant. The gravel had to go over from the hydrant and since we have clay soil we made a box of 27 gallons of river rock for it to drain into below the weep hole and then buried the box and the weephole piping in 3 more inches of gravel in a much bigger surround. The 27 gallon box had most of the bottom cut out of it, lined with geotextile "web style not woven", and the lid on that and then 1/8" weep hole piping went into it from above. Of course we had to have geotextile all around the box and then over it to prevent the clay from filling in all the space between the river rock for the weep hole water to drain! We are on day 5 with 3 feet of dirt fill back added above the geotextile layer above the box. We washed our river rock since we wanted it as free of gunk so the weep hole water would have a maximum amount of space to drain to. It'll be below freezing overnight for the next week here in Minnesota so we got that dripping hydrant taken care of just in time! We only need 2 more truck loads of dirt fill! It just wouldn't stop dripping no matter what we did. We replaced it with a Woodford Y34 that is said to be the most reliable hydrant. We don't want to do that again any time soon! We use it to water our garden and water for the animals. If we wanted to stop the dripping we would have had to turn off our well. You never know how long a project will take! Going on 36 1/2 hours of work. There were many trips to the hardware store that are not included in that time and the hours spent watching how to replace it on RU-vid wasn't included either! I'm sure there is a lot you do that we don't see either. Thanks for putting in all the preparation time that we don't see! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving Hollar family!🦃🥧🍠
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Will you be putting gutters on the mobile home and make a rain catchment system for Meg's Kitchen Garden? The bacon looks amazing. Buggy is so loquacious, her speech is really good for her age. Love how the boys are learning awesome life skills, more than a lot of adults I know. You guys are doing a wonderful job with your homestead. Buggy is Ben's little mimi me. Al built a pellet smoker at his other place, maybe he could share the plans with you.Stay blessed.
You’re a better person than me because whenever I say “I’ll get to it, don’t worry” I literally Never get to it😂😂😂😂😂 I’m the type that has to do it when I’m on the project😊. The skirting looks great btw 😊 HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE🍗🦃🥧
