I will be going for Xianyun solely for the fact she opens a new playstyle in the game, regardless of how good her healing/buffs are, plus I love her animations, the skill especially looks so fun
I'm probably not going to hyperfocus on a plunge team but I am ALL in for that tactical crane strike she's capable of doing. The healing is a huge bonus.
It's crazy how Hu Tao who is more of chill person doing funeral job having one of the strictest and complex combo mechanic in the game that requires your fingers to jogs while the Dragon who has full authority of water just hold mouse for a while then blast all over the screens
I mean, canonically she is not a fighter and doesnt use her vision that often, so it is logical that she requires more work than someone who is adept at using their vision/elemental powers to achieve good combat results.
yeah me too, at this point where i can comfortably clear every abyss, pulling purely for the meta feels less exciting than pulling for character that open up a new playstyle even if they are less powerfull
never though Xianyun will give Hu Tao new gameplay at first I am not interested to pull for her but after this I will get her for me to play Hu Tao again
I can totally see xiao hutao diluc to be strong with furina+xianyun combo. I wonder if this also opens up plunging style for other chars too? Furina+xianyun with: Physical eula raiden Freeze ayaka shenhe Bloom-Hyperbloom-spread-agravate keqing nahida Hyperbloom alhaitham kuki Electrocharge keqing fischl Or maybe even Burgeon/burning with nahida + diluc/hutao and many more... Maybe not top meta level, but still very strong? Hmm
My biggest compliment for Xianyun aside for enabling and buffing plunge attacks is "get her for being guaranteed Jean" and that's not funny even for me. Hoped her "buff" be good upon release or else it will be future impact with this one.
She dmg buffs for plunges is roughly twice as strong as shenhe’s dmg buff. For xiao it’s letting ppl hit 200-250k plunges for well invested builds. And her c2 doubles her buff strength
to slot in bennett in that team you’re either sacrificing furina, which defeats the purpose of using a teamwide healer, or xingqiu/yelan, which means you won’t have nearly enough hydro to vape hutao
I'm surprised they've still never given an item to unlock any constellation. It's technically giving away a 5 star while requiring the player to actually unlock a 5 star normally. The promotion of giving away something without actually doing so.
I recently started playing a new account and pulled Hu Tao and was going to go for her c1, but I enjoy jumping canceling better. I might go for Homa instead when it's on a godly banner instead of c1.
plunge hu tao is so fun.. i don't have to use my brain to use her, all you gotta do is charge attack jump and repeat, and she becomes my best character
You lose out on a big chunk of Yelan’s damage, especially if she’s C2 & has Aqua. We also don’t have a valid confirmation that the plunges always vape. I guess we’ll see, personally I’m not going to pull her, as Plunge Tao seems very clunky & not worth it in the long run, it only seems viable if you’re on low investment.
What do you use n2c with, Jump or dash cancels? Because if you've been using just n2c and that's exactly what your muscle memory is rn, why? I hope you use one or the other cancel. If it's already N2CJ then it's going to be SO much easier to learn N2CJP.
Xianyun looks cool, I'll get her on her rerun though. Just doesn't seem worth it, I mean having Jean that doesn't ungroup enemies is good but most people who use Jean now are doing it because of Furina and in Furina teams your damage is already so high that a little ungrouping doesn't matter.
"Hu Tao's best con is now Furina C1"... in other words, instead of getting a Hu Tao con, get a Furina con and Xianyun. Twice as many limited 5-stars. It's still a nice option for C0 Tao havers, because banner wait times are getting obscenely long, but it's kind of an unfair comparison; if you do have C1, using Jean+Furina C1 would probably give similar results.
Does plunge outweigh the loss of 5x XQ/Yelan's burst activation on normals? And does it outweigh not having max furina stacks on rotation 2+ since the rest of your team starts at ~100% hp instead of 50%?
Big majority of the playerbase will never bother with all of these combos and much less using something as clunky and unintuitive as spamming plunges all over the place, so that part of her kit is niche beyond believe for said ppl, what is left is a Jean with some grouping that can use TTDS, that also has bigger ER problems than Jean and almost triple the field time. Ppl have to ask themselves if that is worth the potential 170+ rolls or not, her E isn't even good for traveling since they decided it would be more important to give the E good horizontal travel than make it usable in the air and have better vertical travel than Kazuha, it's a clunky downgrade to just using Yelan or Wanderer.

She has a huge fan base. One of the biggest in Genshin if I’m not mistaken. So it’s understandable there would be a lot more ppl experimenting new comps for her.
C1 is still a lot better than CR in single target scenarios. CR is just 3% team dps increase over jean in that team, while C1 is like 10% extra team dps. Plunges are better in AoE tho. I would argue homa has taken a bigger hit because you rarely end up under 50% HP in furina teams.
You should try playing plunge Hu Tao for yourself, I found it absolutely godawful, much worse than the jump cancels. At the end of the day, even if Xianyun’s rotation is better - you can always increase Hu Tao’s team damage by getting constellations on other units like Furina & Yelan. I’m willing to bet that C2 Yelan is most definitely much better in a Jean team.
@@musicaddict9058 I played her for a while with c0 homa and it was okayge. you only really start running out of stamina if you dont let it refill to full on your second rotation. but since I could reposition with yelan E on double hydro and stamina recharges during that E sprint there was no problem
a day will come when they make VV work off field, when i saw Xianyun does coordinated anemo attack after a plunge makes me want that to happen. Dendro set works off field so why not anemo
Imo they need to make vv and archaic petra to work off field in order to make some units more viable (albedo and xianyun) without having to change too much in the game

Question wasn't there like a video showing hu tao plunges causes hydro to be eaten via XY swirl so she can't vape consistent and has to CA 2 to 3 time to let hydro overtake it again? Was that factored in or was that video not true and hu tao can vape consecutive CA Plunges?

I like that they add something new to Genshin both cloud retainer and Gaming. I hope Gamings numbers are ok enough to play him dps he seems fun. Maybe u will choose him on lantern rite. But idk c4 Xiangling. Depending on what phase he is in i guess. If he is with Nahida i guess i will get him. If he is on cloud retainer Xiao banner. yeah i will have to choose him

As a hu tao main who has been waiting ever since I got tired of Yelan for some new supports for hu tao I couldn't be happier right now with Furina and CR but at the same time I have to work on getting her a 4pc, a new 4pc of MH and would have to pull for a character that wouldn't be worth it right now So I'll get there eventually but it's just nice to see and think about
@@z.e.v for other charcter yes. if you already have something like Shimenawa, Witch of Flame, or even Gilded Dream with Prefect sub stat (i know there will be player like that holding like 35-40 CV each piece for Hutao or having like 40 usefull substat) its not really a direct upgrade. but if you gonna have new plaything for onfield carry with Furina tho~
@@Kindi001 I have a CW hu tao with zero wasted substats (top 1% on akasha) so I get what you're saying but 36% crit rate for free is just insane stats because crit is something you can't often buff externally, unlike something like dmg% or EM. I'm pretty sure the MH set's damage ceiling in a furina team is significantly higher than both other sets, since you'll hit diminishing returns on SR because of furina's massive dmg bonus and CW's 4pc is not even fully utilized by tao
@@salto7080 There's like one good leak about her grouping, and from what I can tell from seeing it, it's similar to Kazuha's tap E at best, as it doesn't have a lingering effect, the enemies ungroup pretty much instantly. It might get changed, but right now it literally resembles a single cast of Faruzan's skill more than anything.

how? If Xiao's best team now is Xiao, Faruzan C6, Furina, Cloud Retainer! Xiao will receive a buff, not a debuff. And now Cloud Retainer solved one of Xiao's problem, ST dmg. I see only 3 characters using CR, Xiao, Diluc, Gaming. The others are kinda clunky and slow. For example, when you're Plunging with hu tao, I've already did 3 CA with her.
Wait there's something i find this odd? Can hutao consistently vape with this team? Since xianyun ultimate will do coordinate attack which will swirl. It could take the enemy hydro aura and plus with how hutao blossom won't it actually ended up with hutao non vape? Also won't the 1st&2nd rotation hutao HP will still be on above 50% since xianyun kinda heal hutao. Also which is team is better tho let's say against single enemy. This team(xianyun, hutao c1, yelan c1, furina) or zhongli, hutao c1, yelan c1, mona c1+Thrilling tales? Since currently that is my hutao team.
The problem is that most characters that CAN plunge don't WANT to or gain LITTLE from it. It's a gimmick. Ga Ming will gain from it. Xiao will "gain" from it. Diluc is the biggest winner by far from this gimmick...but other characters like Hu tao want to CA or NA rather than plunge. I guess if you want to waste/burn your wishes on this gimmick you can...but I'm upset that they basically just wasted one of the most anticipated characters over a niche gimmick that they could have tested out on another character. Ah well...guess that means Arlecchino and Clorinde are safe. Like people are actually coping that this might be good for AL HAITHAM and RAIDEN like...no. No it wont lol. It will be "servicable" but not "good".

Looking at Mom Retainers kit, I hate it. Just turning every single unique character into a generic plunge attack animation. Also because once they give her a proper character model, we'll never see Bird Milf again. I am only pulling for her because I NEED Baby Ganyu stories.
He probably meant circlet, not sands. Atk in general is less valuable for Ayaka when you're using Shenhe because the atk only buffs Ayaka's talent dmg, while cryo damage and crit buffs both her talent damage AND Shenhe's quills damage. It's similar to electro characters in aggravate teams, crit and dmg are much better because they buff both aggravate dmg and talent dmg Still though, it's not like you can just snipe crit substats for your characters. But at least the main stat gap grows enough for atk circlet to almost never be better than cdmg circlet on Ayaka with Shenhe, even if the subs are a lot better
Because the more you get of a stat the worst the value is compared to others. Example, Crit rate, when you get 100% everything over it is a waste. Example two, Navia has her weapon but Unforged is actually about 99% as good at R5 with the passive active, if you get Bennett on the team Navia's BiS becomes better because it isn't oversaturated on attack. In Ayaka case she is getting Shenhe attack on the Icy quills, she is kind of a weird case because she actually doesn't have much more to look for, Crit damage and that's about it, on freeze teams she isn't looking for as much CR as other characters, she doesn't need EM, she doesn't need HP nor DEF, she pretty much can only keep going up on CDmg. To make it simple, too much of any stat makes said stat value lower, ER loses value when you get enough to burst on CD, CR loses value when you reach 100% and other stats lose value compared to others if you get too much of them.
atk circlet is viable on ayaka with a very high amount of CD rolls (e.g. 1900-2000 atk but 280-290 CD on a CD circlet), but shenhe's icy quills fail to benefit from the atk circlet vs a CD circlet which is why the CD circlet pulls ahead again when shenhe is added ER sands instead of atk sands meanwhile is super hardcore grieving
zajef might be optimistic, but as a veteran gacha players i doubt they will gave us free 5* another example was, fgo used to be at top of gacha list and they gave us free 5* after they failed a massive project, 81% profit loss, almost wemt bankrupt and another free permanent 5* after they sold the company. None of the free stuff is limited either.
even if we did get one it'd be like qiqi or dehya who 99% of players would just level to 20 for the acquaint and then let them collect dust in the teapot. they wouldn't give a free furina or nahida in a thousand years time, people need to stop grieving so damn hard and just accept the fact
what about c1 hutao teams without xianyun? find it weird stating the c0 team with xianyun will be better than dash cancels because both the calculation were done with xianyun on the team
I, Honestly and Personally, do not care about others' opinions about her. Because many might hate her gameplay or herself, would tell how bad she is and how is she is not useful. BUT I honestlu, EVEN if I have Baizhu, C3 Charlotte and Bennett...Furina and others I guess, I STILL really want Xianyun, her elemental skill, it looks super fun, you can dash and jump around, OR you can just even "fly" around. It looks so fun. The burst is like better than Baizhu, it heals the whole team. Also gives jumps. I love that she is Anemo, she is more "flexible". Normal Attacks look quite good! Ive been loving hu tao vape plunge while fighting the local legend and the huge mechanical boss so ill definitely play her with cloud retainer, although i assume ill get wrecked in the abyss while plunging
I wish they would reliese more Quick Swap characters, but I have the theory they are not doing that so that ZZZ feals like a newer experience to players
Adding to what Oktavianus said, Xingqiu is gonna prevent most interruptions (though not all of them) in that relatively short span of time, while also having better Hydro app compared to Yelan pre-C2 and being a good defensive option since it's a Hutao-Furina team. With Furina's slow and inconsistent Hydro app it's good to have more, and it's especially true with Xianyun since she performs coordinated attacks after plunges, so Xingqiu having more while also having the additional hydro app from his orbitals coming into contact with enemies, is gonna be very helpful. Xianyun has decent healing from what I've heard, but since all her heals are party-wide I'm gonna assume it's not quite enough to keep Hutao healthy with her relatively high HP (especially with hydro resonance), Furina's drain, Hutao's own drain and catching damage while on field, so Xingqiu's damage reduction is gonna be so much more noticeable than usual, even more so when accounting for Hoyo's recent enemy designs (having some very strong hitting attacks) Yelan will probably result in better overall damage, assuming her Hydro app is enough, but overall Xingqiu seems like the better option.
Naw, it’s no different than c0 hutao running no shield. You have super armor during plunge, but outside of the plunge itself you have the same vulnerabilities as C0 Hutao. If C0 wasn’t fun to play before, this won’t be fun to play now. Hot take. 😉
I mean, people've been playing C0 Hu Tao for years and they've been mostly fine lol. Even without XQ or Zhongli, the necessity for IR is grossly exaggerated imo Plus you should theoretically be getting hit less than in the normal C0 Xianyunless teams, since you spend some time in the air where most enemies won't be able to hit you
She looks pretty bad and practically a furina slave. Also for Gaming Kazuha is a stronger buff when Gaming is literally designed for plunging not to mention aoe also being worse. I expected buffs this Monday tbh atleast they didn't nerf cuz she might have been standard if they nerfed her
plunge attack has been ignored and irrelevant so far even with the existence of dragon strike because it's difficult to do. It's exciting to finally see what plunge attack dps can offer with it's high scaling
Did he put the ability to play Bennett as the fourth slot in the c1 team in the calculation? Because if he used the same team for the comparison it wouldn't make sense. Because even tho a Bennett can't consistently max out fanfare he still makes Hu tao deal more damage than a jean in this team. Especially at c6. Or am I forgetting something?
I'll be wishing to finish off my c6 Faruzan (for Wanderer). If she comes I won't complain. If she doesnt ill save whatever pitty I'm on for the next patch. I already have c0/r1 Hu Toa, C6 Xq, C0/R1 Yelan, C2/Homa Zhonghli. That team is already very good and would prefer investing in my other hyper teams.
I'm pulling Xianyun just because it's a new play style for me and I want to try something new. Plus I already have her BIS weapon (the free catalyst from the enkonomiya event in 2.5). Is her plunge damage better than Kazuha? NO. Does she group enemies better than Kazuha or Sucrose? No. As a waifu does she have bigger boobs or is she sexier than the other waifus? Nop. I'm only going for her just to try a new playstyle, plus she's a good healer.
I am curious to see how cloud retainer effects vertical investment for hu tao teams. Furina+Xianyun vs Kazuha+Yelan. A concern I have though is e-e-e reminds me of Yae Miko who despite being my main I can't deny feels shit to play relative to other characters so we will also have to see how Xianyun feels to play.
Honestly just going to play Hu Tao with Furina & Yelan without jumping with Xianyun, she already shreds through abyss I don't need to do the optimal combo when shes already busted with Furina.
also since we have stamina remaining... could we chuck the last n2cjp and do like a n2cd... maybe 2? idk how many we can fit... can open up a lot of dynamics in combat.
Welp. My good luck strikes again. I had to chose between HuTao C1 or Furina C0 and I chose Furina. Looks like I made a good decision I just need to get CR on her rerun and I’ll have the best HuTao team. Although I really don’t like the HuTao Furina teams cause the 2Hydro are soooooooo comfy to play. Seams like the CR Furina HuTao team is gonna be much more difficult to pilot. With no shield and Furina hp drain.
The best Hu Tao team uses Bennet as the healer and since it was discovered that you will end up not consistently vaping Hu Tao plunges it's barely going to be a sidegrade to jean
Can anyone tell me which is better; Hu Tao(C1)/Xianyun/Furina(C1)/Yelan or Hu Tao(C1)/Mona(PA)/Furina(C2)/Yelan? Bcs I don't think Zajef ever talked about the possibility of Hu Tao max damage potential with her and Homa under 50% HP buffs active while also being able to max fanfare with C2 Furina and PA Mona. Or are the low HP buffs actually not that significant so the new Xianyun team is still better?
I use Hu Tao(C1)/VV Sucrose(PA)/Furina(C2)/Yelan(C2). Its very strong team. Hu Tao hits much harder, but in the current abyss this team is approximately equal to the variation with Jean.

Maybe Zajef didn't take into account the low HP buff bcs most f2p don't have C2 Furina and/or Homa. So he assumes that most people won't be able to get the buffs anyway, and without Homa it doesn't really matter compared to max fanfare stacks. But he never mentioned it so idk 😂 Thanks anyway! I guess I'll just use Xianyun with Hu Tao until I get one more cons on Furina then.
Most likely he meant ATK hat. In certain whaled out builds (with 5-star crit weapon), you might have so much crit already that ATK hat can also be viable. But since Shenhe quill damage doesn't increase with Ayaka's ATK, only crit and DMG bonus, ATK has lowered value and so might go back to default of being worse than crit hat.
can you talk more about the fact that weapon types that aren't polearm are much much faster at doing plunge attacks because they can dash cancel? I've seen many people that don't know this and it's very important bc the difference in speed between plunge spam with polearm vs claymore is huge
I mean, that largely depends on your EM assumptions since EM diminishing returns hit Dbane very quickly in comparison to R1 Fjords At kqm standard that is simply not the case, R5 Dbane wins out.
tbh i wasn't expecting zajeff to like xianyun. Right now her role is fulfilled by jean and her niche is only for hutao diluc xiao and gaming. Her role "might" be more useful for future chars but betting on that seems not worth.
