Aside from electrical installations I install this at the back of office desks for cable neatness. Keeps all those extensions, power, network, phone cables etc.. off the floor. A step up from what I used to use (Guttering).

Used this for around 10 years in factories we look after, so much quicker than tray. Though you do have to be careful of where it is used as sometimes it's not appropriate for the environment.

Used three 3m lengths of a competitors version to run network, RF and other low-voltage stuff the length of the house in the loft here. Just a straight run with a simple 90º bend at one end. First time I'd used anything like thus and I'd definitely use it again.

Used this stuff since 2004 in various manufacturer products mainly for data/comms fibre and lighter cabling. Tray is better for fixing heavier type cables due to the equal spaced slots for fixing cable ties across, given the rigidness of these cables makes for a more pleasing install and look. I always wondered if these basket companies would provide a better cost-effective fixing for these types of cables in baskets as it is easier to work without a doubt, but why most of us sparks opt for the "tray way", that said I am always open to new products that make the job easier and the costs cheaper just to get that big job ;-) keep up the cracking work guys, my apprentices love your vids always recommend they watch.👍👍 Ed

We do still sell a lot of tray, as someone else has mentioned it rather depends on the installation. Legrand is more popular than Marco, but Pemsa is a better product than all of them and an easier company to deal with. Personally speaking i have used it in my workshop as shelving in combination with cantilever arms . Its lighter and cheaper and more flexible than wood.

my personal guesses for cable tray/basket advantages pros basket: -cheap on material an price -light weight on carrying structure -quick mounting with small number of parts -easy cleanability -easy cable finding and tracing -high accessability-> no need for later adaption -heat dissipation is very good, maybe smaller wire diameter possible cons basket: -less carrying capability in total (wild guess, i didnt look at specs!) -avoid putting heavy cables on top of smaller ones to avoid pressure marks(do that in trays too! but the damage in baskets is worse because of less carrying surface) -i personaly dont know how to PROPER treat the cuttings not to be sharp. Like thin metal sheets, they are always sharp or pointy - i personaly would not "pull" or "drag" than rather put or place cables in these because of the pointy things (i had alot bleeding underarms in my apprenticeship, but not only because of these ) and sharp angles because of the small basket wire radius -no "clean" way to hide excess/spare cable -how to mount rails to cover larger vertical lengths pro trays: - i like the organized look even the cables are not well put in there (in some adjusting jobs you cant avoid it) -in case its necessary and you have a gentle footstep, you can walk on them (i dont recommend it!!! know your materials and bodyweight ;) ) -mounting small devices is super easy on the outside (screws pointing to the outside of the tray!) and many more...... personal resume: i like it very much for smaler cables like network etc, machines with many sensors and less big cables. They are not very common in Germany as far as i know, i only ever had one customer using these. ps: sry for my bad english, this is my personal opinion, feel free to correct me greetings from bavaria

Used this in industrial enviroment alot in the 600mm version from competitor, job needed upwards of 50 lengths holding cables as big as a 4 core 240mm sy cable needed two runs side by side due to amount of wiring. And also used on other jobs with large armoureds it just needs extra unistrut on larger cables

Tray would probably visibly better looking with dressed cable. Main reason i can think of for tray being more popular is its the 1st thing sparks will think of and the job designer wouldn't care about making the sparks life easier

Great presentation. On Marco's website I found that the maximum span between two supports can be up to 2 metres (depends of the load, environment). Can I use 1.4 metres between the trapezes for a 100mm cable basket for internal installation? Trapezes within 300mm of bends and sets. Only 6 T&E 2.5mm cables will be installed.

@efixx
@efixx 3 года назад
Thats a great question - lets see if any of the other comments shine a light on the reasoning.
@michaelwilliams3648
@michaelwilliams3648 3 года назад
Because large gaps allow you to drop cable at any point along the length. Move the cabs slightly over or new servers have ports on the opposite side it’s no issue just pull the cable down through the basket’s gaps. On cable tray, you’re going to need to take a drill and make a nice hole for cables. Drills mean swarf and bits. No one wants swarf over 100K of hardware that can be running millions of pounds worth of operations. Tray would be grate on first set up but over time you need to rerun cable and basket allows that at no risk
@neil6438
@neil6438 3 года назад
I was told Basket is used for data cables because its better at dissipating the heat from them.
@abdullahseba4375
@abdullahseba4375 3 года назад
@@neil6438 Heat??? I'm an IT admin and heat is not a thing from data cables! Not even with POE. A cable with a 15kW fan heater at the end of it is what gets hot (or rather, warm)! If cooling is the reason, however, sounds like a better excuse to use them for power cabling. Personally, I use cable trays because I like the look of them and I like the idea of clearly separating data and power channels - thought this is not necessarily a good reason. Cable baskets are easy to use with velcro ties that are commonly used for bundles of data cable. It allows for new cables to be added easily.
