You are clearly lying that you knew this guy or if you did you didn't know him well, Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell both knew Will Young before this audition and was on the radar for many music labels long before he auditioned for Pop Idol, he had already been signed to be part of a boy band but it didn't go through, but was encouraged by the record label to continue pursuing a single career.

Simon wasn't earning from this show. It was Simon Fuller's idea so Cowell started a new show and changed the name to xFactor. I think he took it to the states first. I think there was a law suit between the two Simons about it. Someone else on here will probably know more.

After they'd all made a comment Simon asked them all to decide whether to put him through or not...which is when Pete made the comments about Will's clothes. Simon had the final say and put him through. So you're correct the end of it was cut off.
