We are graduating from the age of probiotics and prebiotics to a time in which we are able to adopt exciting new strategies that give us enormous control over the aging process. I will talk about the power of cultivating the bacterial species, Lactobacillus reuteri, to take advantage of its ability to smooth skin and reduce wrinkles, accelerate healing, preserve bone density, restore youthful muscle and strength, increase libido, and enhance empathy. I will discuss how bowel flora has gone haywire in many people, populating parts of the gastrointestinal tract where they don’t belong and contributing to the aging process and underlying many health conditions. I will then discuss how to assess this situation, then correct it, with potential to restore and maintain many aspects of youthfulness and health.
William Davis, MD is cardiologist and author of the New York Times #1 bestseller, Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight and Find Your Path Back to Health and Super Gut: Reprogram Your Microbiome to Restore Health, Lose Weight, and Turn Back the Clock to be released February 2022. amzn.to/3vuRJs6 His books have sold nearly 4 million copies in the worldwide market and are published in 40 countries. National media appearances include the Dr. Oz Show, CBS This Morning, and Live with Kelly (Ripa), featured on Bill O’Reilly and the Colbert Report, and in print media including First for Women and Woman’s World magazines. Dr. Davis has a substantial online presence on his Wheat Belly Blog (www.wheatbellyblog.com) with 10 million visitors.
More than books, more than social media, Dr. Davis is devoted to building a movement of individual self-empowerment to reduce or eliminate reliance on conventional healthcare.

I can't praise this man enough. I gave up the wheat/grains and within 2 to 3 days lost my appetite and cravings completely. I forget to eat! Seriously. The last 10 pounds that I had to lose just melted off within weeks. I started with the L. Reuteri and absolutely love it. I actually eat it in the morning with berries and call it breakfast. I go for bloodwork in 2 weeks and can't wait to see the results.

I have now made my fourth batch of the L. Reuteri yogurt, and I finally got the thick, almost waterless consistency that I've been looking for. I actually heated the Half and Half to 100 degrees F and added the whey and curds from a former batch as well as the two tablespoons of inulin, poured it into the eight little jars in my yogurt maker, and then set it at 102 degrees F for 36 hours. I have noticed that I have been able to sleep through the night a couple of nights so far, which is fabulous for me, since I have been tortured by foot cramps every night for years, that disrupt my sleep. I had tried electrolyte drops, magnesium and potassium supplementation, a low carb diet, and even (at the suggestion of my cardiologist) - a bar of soap under the fitted sheet at the foot of my bed (I have no idea how THAT is supposed to work!) Every night was filled with agonizing foot and leg cramps that would wake me from sleep to jump up and hobble into the kitchen to drink dill pickle juice, many times in tears from the pain. It has only been since I got Dr. Davis's books and implemented his six-point program of diet and supplementation, including the reuteri yogurt, that I have almost completely eliminated the foot and leg cramps and been able to get a full night's sleep. And when they do occur, they are much milder in severity and shorter in duration. I hope that with continued use of Dr. Davis's program, I will be able to get the deep and revitalizing sleep he describes. Thank you, Dr. Davis!

I have been taking store bought probiotics with the video mentioned strain (I hope they're the precise strains) ....I read your comment and realized I've been feeling better too! And that's just with two days. Hm. Well, I'll keep going and see if my life improves, this after years of complications. I am one of those that used to do extreme things to my body (exercise horse jockey, hay trucks, kick boxing, fastest sprinter, etc) and became a home bound light walker by age fifty. No muscle. All gone. Just a heaping sad has been. Got COVID twice, ended up in the hospital once. My brain can't think and my house became a mess. (And I'm a deliberate creator! So you can imagine my grief.) Anyways... I noticed that this morning, I'm different in many different ways and thought I would come back to this video after two days of probiotics use to read the comments. And I'm reading yours... Thinking of yeah! I forgot about the muscle cramps. They're gone! And I am sleeping. Dreaming hard kind of sleeping. Woke up this morning, happy to wake! Actually feeling like I was excited to start my day. Could be the weather. Could be the probiotics. Only my body muscle will give me that as time goes. If I get that back, for sure.. this so works! I have a thirty day supply to see how far I get with it. I bought the probulin brand. Daily care. I'll keep reading other comments... But hey..cheers!

I do treat myself to some ice-cream occasionally. But despite all this my digestion is an absolute mess and has been for 5-6 years now. Nobody wants to hear the details but trust me, they're unpleasant and persistent. I've seen 3 different GI's and they all pretty much tune out whenever I suggest SIBO. I've just ordered a yogurt maker and the probiotic strains to start fixing my gut, because unless it involves selling some patented prescription drug, your doctor is less than useless.

In some cultures grandma looked after their grandchildren. These kids got breast fed and when weaning comes, it is grandma who chews the solid food and feeds the toddler. Hence the passage of free micro biome to kids. Kids 80 years ago had better nutrition then cmpared to now, where it is considered 'modern' 'advanced' if you use formula and have a C section. Our internal environment has been savaged in the same way we savaged our external environment. We all need a complete rethinking of how we are going to go forward in the coming decades.

@@netabaughman3079 that's the problem, it's not for profit. Public school is a monopoly with no competition and their union involves itself heavily in politics. Only the people with extra money get to utilize the 'better' private schools. Yet the public pays millions upon millions to that one entity in control. And their outcomes are terrible. They have so much control they can actually sic the FBI on parent bringing up issues of concern. That's why some people are pushing for charter schools where some of the educational tax money goes to tuition for them. So parents have a choice. Theres usually a waiting list. Because if the public school has a 30% fail rate and a private or charter school only has a 5 or 10% fail rate, parents will likely change their kids there. But there's not enough of them. My daughter told me the high school in her town has 2400 students. Anybody should know that many teenagers in one place........you wont be able to control things and it's not good for them either. Dr Davis, thank you so much for this insightful lecture! If it had more views, which if absolutely deserves, it could save lives of millions of people on the planet! One topic of the lecture that I grew particularly interested in is the impact of crop cultivation and the invention of bread on the development of human civilizations. I loved the example of the giant increase in tooth decay that ensued after humans learnt to cultivate crops, however, I am not sure if the relationship is of the nature that is suggested by the archaeologists. First, humans that consumed predominantly meat prior to the introduction of grains, had to develop very strong teeth at a very early age. In fact, if a child, by the time the mother stopped breast feeding, did not develop teeth strong enough to chew wild game (and that could have been grilled or raw, but definitely not as soft as the meat we eat today), they died very quickly. Recall the huge child mortality of the stone age and the extremely slow growth in the number of humans as a species. So, the introduction of grains allowed to relax the natural selection criteria on teeth strength, joint health and other conditions that had been incompatible with the hunting lifestyle. Second, the start of crop cultivation was concurrent with the domestication of sheep and goat, which led to greater and more stable consumption of meat than at the times of pure hunter-gatherers. This, in turn, had two profound implications: the number of people increased exponentially, and tribes began to unite under the umbrella of leaders who were able to coordinate the land cultivation effort (organize irrigation, build protective walls, etc.). So, the invention of bread and the cultivation of crops were exactly what made human civilizations possible. The diabolic twist of nature, though, is that the abuse of whatever caused a human civilization to develop and flourish, almost necessarily leads to that civilization’s ultimate demise. And grains, as vividly illustrated by Dr. Davis, may be one such factor. I am not an archeologist nor a professional historian, but I am genuinely interested in the ways that civilizations evolved and declined, and I would love to learn more about that.

And only some of the strains have been shown widely beneficial in studies. So, it's not enough to just get some random strains of L. reuteri. The strains that Dr. William Davis recommends, as far as I know, are only available from the company BioGaia.

I sent away for the yogurt maker, etc. etc. to make the L. Reuteri dairy culture (yogurt) and it turned out perfectly; no whey separation, firm, and silky. The only thing it tastes like maybe what an old used tennis shoe might taste? Don't know for sure ; ), either that, or goat cheese smell. I think you could probably get used to it but this first qt. of yogurt is going to be rough to get down. I am hoping the taste goes away with time ! Still, to have the possibility of all those health improvements will be worth it.

@@christianthames2302 Yes it did. I started eating a 6oz jar of SuperGut yogurt every day and a 10-12oz glass of milk kefir (I also make) at least 4-5 days a week. I started seeing improvements in my symptoms (more on that below...not pleasant reading I'm afraid) within the first 2 weeks and after about 6 weeks I was having no issues. For roughly 6-7 years I'd had almost constant steatorrhea. Very loose, greasy, smelly stools. For most people that would be pretty annoying, but for me, who had an incomplete spinal cord injury in 2016, where I lost full bladder and bowel control, it was extremely debilitating. During really bad spells I simply couldn't leave my house for a couple of days at a time. I went through 4 jobs in 2 years simply because I was not reliable and had to be let go, due to attendance policies. I went to 3 different gastroenterologists in those 6 years. The first 2 were worthless, and the third seemed like he was willing to do tests to find out what was wrong with my gut, but my employers (at the time) garbage insurance wouldn't cover the visits they deemed not "medically necessary". I had quit drinking, was eating a healthy, whole-food diet, getting moderate exercise and nothing was working. And believe me, I tried every damn thing I could think of or had read about. Dr Davis' yogurt healed my gut and I still eat the yogurt almost every day, because it's really delicious and I still live in the modern world that probably caused my gut issues to begin with.
