Always love Bill Dunham. My dad has his book on Euler - Euler is his hero. What a legend. Also he was a nice guy as well!

Is anyone familiar with Euler’s or anyone else studying this variation of Euler’s contain column studies? The video and white paper describes the mechanical properties related my unique variation of Euler’s Contain Column studies. It shows how materials (representing fields) naturally respond to induced stresses in a “quantized“ manor. This process, unlike harmonic oscillators can lead to formation of stable structures. The quantized responses closely models the behaviors known as the Quantum Wave Function as described in modern physics. The effect has been used to make light weight structures and shock mitigating/recoiled reduction systems. I was wondering about the more indepth historical aspects about some of the german speaking scientists and, musicians that are considered as famous by the western world :Euler, Bach, Mozart , Gauss and others All of them existed during the expansion of Austria, Prussia, and Imperial Russia in Europe,- not to the very enjoyment of the nations that they were occupying. For instance in schools german language was enforced and national languages were forbidden often with beating. Several nations were under the occupant rule of the above Austria, Russia and Germany/Prussia. Just to mention: Poland, Czech, Latvia, Estonia, Serbia and so on. It is not only and aspect known to WWI or WWII. The above countries : Germany Austria Russia were occupants to the rest of the nations in Europe for instance partitioning Poland in 1772 and later 1793, 1795 . Mozart met the first partitioner of Poland in the royal court in Venna prince Joseph (son of Maria Theresa who advised on using torture )or so were he was a royal musician. Bach actually played for Frederic the Great and Bachs son was later a royal musician of Frederich the Great -the "great" emperor who took part in the partitions and swiping nations out of Europes map. Thus Euler born in Switzerland and speaking german and living in Russia can be seen as a part of this -to some of the historians. Which is seen as military expansion of Prussia and Russia Austria in that period in Europe. One might consider these aspects that the german and russian speaking great inviduals were considered as occupiers to those nations that perished from the maps of Europe then.

@@alanturing1 Its history, generaly speaking of the european imperial countries: germany/austria and occupied territories from mid 18th century onwards to WWI. Euler came from a theoreticaly neutral country, I guess he was ok.
