Sad to realize that William Holden would be dead a few short months after this interview was filmed! He contributed so much to the film industry, and was a favorite of movie lovers around the world.

I would have said or asked anything to make him give that great smile. I don’t know of anyone else that has ever had one to match it. His voice was like liquid gold and the combination was irresistible. We’re sorry to lose him but everyone has their own time.

I agree. He was my favorite from his Era. I think he should have received more awards that he did. He never we lost that beautiful smile. Today's actors just don't have the magic that he did.

@@dianekeilmanI was watching and waiting for that smile of his too. I know I wouldn’t have been able to resist it.

I spoke once to Kieron Moore (Moby Dick/Day of the Triffids) who had made a movie with him and was surprised to discover he was a very taciturn presence on the set. Almost sphinx like, enigmatic. That surprised me, especially as I had recently seen him in the television premiere of Network. Irritatingly, somewhat, Peter Finch got all the plaudits for the movie, but it is Holden who carries the film and gives it its energy.

I thought that also.

He has a charisma that draws people to him without even trying to do it.
