@nelsonx5326

I stretch my canvas's with a staple gun. It's easier, fast, works fine. The only reason I would see for using tacks is tradition. Thing is, if staple guns were around back then artists would have been using them to stretch their canvas's. Didn't da Vinci sketch a design for something similar to a staple gun?
@joettelucco8107

We love him for his attention to detail among his many other redeeming characteristics. To restore a painting to as close to the original is a mark of integrity. I agree with your point, there were no staple guns at that time, thus the use of tacks. Makes perfect sense.

@@nelsonx5326 Staples are kinda messy. With tacs it's easier to put them all in a nice neat row. Staples also rust over time, so no good for longevity.

Man this is such an old video, but it has such a charm to it. The music and cinematic framing make this seem like he's dancing with the painting while he's restoring it. It adds a level of intimacy with the painting, and through it, the original artist is conjured and brought back for at least a little while whilst the painting is being restored. It really is such a beautiful craft.

Sweety let me tell you something i found out the hard way, no one can restore you other than yourself. You have to become the conservator yourself, cause no matter how much someone tries to "fix" you, it won't work, unless you make a conscious effort to change. Your partner is not there to fix you, they are person of their own and have their own demons to fight. They may become your assistant or your teacher in this "conservation process", but your are the master of yourself and your own work and you decide on the changes that happen to you. No amount of care, affection and effort from outside will fix issues that stem from the inside. Love yourself and love others.

Finding this channel made my day. It’s so peaceful to watch how carefully and precisely he restores the painting back to life. And the ending is so satisfying to see.
