The world is constantly changing, but God's WORD will never change. Now I understand that these Pastors, Preachers and Bishops are trying to reach this new generation, the lost and confused, and the back-sliders, but please don't get lost in the sauce trying to do so. Remember you are called, therefore responsible for God's people.

People are looking to be delivered,changed,not pacified in sin.

God has a standard. To be disciples means to turn from sin and follow Christ. We can't try to mix and blend with the culture. Be set apart. Come out from among them

The Gospel is enough ❤ you do not have to conform and I'm one of the young ones that didn't grown up In church

When the lost are leading or are the loudest voices, thinking they are pleasing God....Scary! I believe God is disturbed at the state of the "church" that should be trying to be more like Him. Lord have mercy on them and all of us! 🙏🏽

Holy Spirit do not need your help, his word stands alone.

Bishop, I am not sure you moved the church forward. I have heard your perspective on this. But I am not convinced this was a good reason to bend Christian standards of holiness. I believe you crossed the line and wounded the body. Thanks, though, for having the conversation. It's important for people to be able 2 weigh your words and reasons. So, thank you for your transparency.

I have no "opinion" other than to say, I'll continue to pray for the body of Christ and the leaders. God is sovereign and in control...

Looking at them makes me make sure I am so close to Yaweh! That I am never deceived because this level of deception is really “ eye-opening”, it’s like WOW! How low-de-bar in the depts you can be in error about Yaweh(God)!

GOD doesn’t change his word for William Murphy and no one else! He doesn’t need his ideal of how to get 150 people save, regardless of the generation. What fellowship does darkness have with light. GOD IS THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT… He doesn’t need William Murphy light! His word being preached is the door way to him, he doesn’t need William Murphy doorway!! William Murphy if you preached the pure gospel as GOD has given it, the gospel will do the work! If it was good enough for you.. what makes you think it’s not relatable to this generation! We missed nothing Jamal Bryant, we saw everything! 83% of Preacher’s children doesn’t go to the church because of what they seen in the man in their home and the difference in the man they see in their puplits.

Yes, Let's Be Clear. Nobody Killed Jesus...smh...his purpose was to die!! He GAVE HIS LIFE WILLINGLY...that distinction is important and worth noting!!!

I like them both and I listen for clarity and context. I appreciate Dr. Bryant because he is brilliant mind in our time. When we finish talking about culture and secular etc. We must continue to speak about holiness. That is the mandate for all of us. We must remember that we can can come to God filthy dirty bruised broken and rejected but once we encounter Jesus and he wraps us in his love and forgiveness and heals us and accepts us there is an exchange. Our filth and fear and sins are washed away. There is a difference between us and God and he is holy with out apology. We strive for it. We can't water down salvation. Peas will always taste like peas. Making the message of salvation palatable is a mistake...we must articulate it so it is understood.

To God Be The Glory!!! You have to meet people where they at!!!

If I can get from the church what I have been getting from the club. Where then is the desire to change to do and be better, when the 2 becomes the same. William Murphy, if I was crippled when I came to the church, what healing am I getting from the church! Remember brother, THE HOLY GHOST doesn’t need you to do its job! If YOU WOULD ALLOW it to …do too YOU, what it’s trying to do… YOU, my brother will never try to change GODS FORMULA when he stands at the door and knocks.

Bishop Murphy you did what ever God lead you to do but most importantly people got saved and wanted to have a relationship with God 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Thank You for bringing clarity to this collegial yet controversial conversation, being walked out throughout the Afrina American diaspora, with its many shades of opinion. I appreciate my Duke colleague and friend Dr. Bryant for allowing the mantra of real, relational, relevant, and religious genres of expression to be placed front and center, and given a forum to fully engage the intentionality, the heart of the visionary, and the reflection of their passion behind the narrative, so we may all examine its content with a lens of discernment and not judgment. May God grant us the courage, as Bishop Murphy, to reach the present age, our calling to fulfill.

I have no problem with “moving the church forward” but we must be discerning the Lead of the Holy Spirit as to how! If WE assume a certain way, we leave ourselves open and susceptible to any stimulant or inspiration of culture. Culture should Never be priority over Holy Spirit.

May Yaweh! Reveal himself to all deceived pastors and leaders. May the veil of deception be removed from their eyes.

Walk it Out is not promoting sanctification. This guy is full of it.

God is Spirit you are spirit. All the millennials are spirit. We have to be relatable to Spirit. Don’t dumb the people down to sense knowledge they are spirits. Jesus came to save our souls and reconnect our spirit to our creator.

Talk and preach Holiness and then see who really want too live for Christ.

This conversation walks that fine line to keep those offerings coming in. It's so grey.

I’m reminded of the water being turned into wine. Yes drink the wine becuz it’s familiar, BUT beware of its INFLUENCE if you drink too much of it, don’t get drunk. Yes play “Walk It Out” because the sound is familiar, but beware releasing the verse lyrics into thee atmosphere because of the INFLUENCE 💡

Yes, BIG ups to Pastor Jamal Bryant for his courage to have the complicated conversations. God is not mad about opening up a space to dialogue, but He is disappointed when we chastise with no willingness to understand perspectives. God is always in the midst where there is an atmosphere for the Body of Christ to come together and operate as members of the Body despite the chaos of moving solely for the culture or how the world system can tear down the value of Godly relationship. The Body will Rise!

My thing is the Pastor is in fact a song writer, why he just didn’t make a song instead of playing a song that’s was created from the kingdom of darkness. All praise be to God… The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. I will not bash but continue in prayer. These are the last days and Jesus told us these things will be. I am thankful these two decided to have and share this conversation. In reading the comments, I am even more thankful for the Remnant God will always have. Let us watch and pray 👀🙏🏾

But we are not supposed to be the same. We are supposed to be different! If I could live the same way that I was living before I gave my heart to Christ and nothing be wrong, why in the world do I need to give my life to Christ then? It makes no sense. If we are not supposed to come out and be separate like the Lord said, then what am I doing? I left the life I had because I wanted something different. I didn't want the same things. This is why the church is failing. It is not because we are not cultural enough or accepting enough. It is because we are accepting the things that God is not pleased with.

So basically we need to lower God standards.. Thank God we have people like Gino Jennings, who preaching holiness

What I loved about this conversation is how it shows that it's always better to talk TO a person than to talk about a person. I have no idea about the 'surfing' or 'turfing' or the specific details of the incidents that may have occurred that led to this conversation. Nevertheless, as an Anthropologist, a Christian & an academic, who's not North American I appreciate this conversation on so many levels. Go ahead men of GOD. Let GOD arise, spread the gospel & the love of GOD in the world that you'll are called to. We're all working to go to HIS house, HIS heaven. This is the very reason the Bible says study and show thyself approved. To take the book of Acts and the moving of the Holy Spirit and make it worldly is the reason there are so many issues in the church. How dare you??? That was a move of God, that was the coming of the Holy Spirit. That was an example of trusting The Word of God, thus, being obedient to what Jesus said. In their obedience what God said through His Word came forth. They didn’t say, you know what, there are so many people out there, let’s get interpreters that speak their language to save their souls, and justify us doing it our way and say, but there were thousands of souls saved. The Bible says obedience is better than sacrifice, OBEDIENCE!!! Therefore, the Apostles displayed obedience and Jesus’ Word came forth as it was spoken. Again, no where in God’s Word does it say, “Man, you figure out a way to get their attention because My Way (which is not our ways) and My thoughts (which are not our thoughts) are no longer good enough to do it. It’s 2024 and I no longer have the power to save souls through My Word, and the Obedience of those sharing it My Way. I need your help. Don’t look to My Word to save souls, you figure out a way to do it and we’ll go with that, because it’s evident Myself, Jesus & The Holy Spirit didn’t take into consideration, the year 2000 was coming. We didn’t think that far ahead, (although God knew the end from the beginning) we did not take into consideration in 2024, The Word of God would no longer be good enough to save souls. It has to be done a different way so it’s palatable.” Righteous judgement is indeed in order!!! Study and show thyself approved, if it doesn’t line up with The Word of God, IT’s WRONG!!! Period

Think it not strange🤔 this conversation is very much needed and necessary.Can we talk and agree or disagree without being being disagreeable🤔 I believe God is expanding his kingdom pouring out his Spirit on all men.

Half of yall sinning and going to church right now and God still loves and receive you! Stop with the condemnation and Judgement! Let the Holy Spirit do the work inside of people and YOU love like the First commandment instructed. It’s prideful to think that your sin is less than another! Until you understand this you will remain bound! The fact that many think they can have an opinion on what God is going in this season is sad! God is working through this man to save souls and yall worried about the Sin. Look in the mirror people! That reflection will consistently stare back at you into you look at what God is reflecting!

It’s interesting that the explicit swag and surf Bishop is being interviewed by the Bishop that wants to grow weed. Very interesting.

I would say to him, young man, allow the Holy Spirit to teach you, humility and how to listen. You don't have to depend the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It stands on its own, every time.

I'll be glad when he either repents or goes away. Either way Lord do something.

Worship is within and it starts there

Holiness is still right and without it no man will see God. Jesus doesn't need to be adapted to the culture, the culture needs to be adapted to Him. You can't win the world with worldly tactics. Lift Him up and He will draw without entertainment, secularism and worldliness. Be careful about appealing more to the flesh than the spirit.

If and when they come give ‘em the word of god !! He said Sanctify them through by word the word is truth. The word of God will sanctify us set us apart not music.

All I can say is God needs no help from the devil or his devices to win those that are in darkness. How can you use dark tools to witness to this that are in darkness to bring them into light? At the end of the day it’s manipulation. God does does not work in manipulation.

That’s what deception is believing you’re right when you’re not basing your life on Gods word,Jesus,The Holy Spirit’s guidance.

I am glad this conversation is happening. I grew up in the church and was so hurt because of the lack of love. God chose us and did it with love but we are judging and throwing people away because they don’t follow God the way we see fit.

Jesus use the truth of his word to draw men to himself. He does not need making the stallion beyoncé or walk it out in order to draw the new generation. He is in all powerful God.

The saints need church to not just this new generation ❤ kids taught by pastors growing up like mine get confused by this new way. I am a Pastor daughter as well.

Man come on Bishop, there is no one jealous of feels some kinda way over a supposedly 150 souls that came to Christ, let’s be clear, they were offended because of how you gained them. The souls were and aren’t ever the focus it’s the desecration of the Holy place. At the end of the day we’re working together to gain souls, who cares if you’ve gained 300 souls and I’ve gained 10? As long as we’re gaining them.
