This aired in 2006 during the 17th Hall of Fame Inductees ceremony of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Produced by Quinn Monahan, who stated.....
"I produced this piece for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (the Emmys) a few years ago, on the occasion of Mr. Shatner's induction into the Television Hall of Fame." • William Shatner 50 Yea...
I've reuploaded HIS upload. IMHO it's THE BEST tribute EVER of Shatners' career.
Thought it needed to be included here.

*William Shatner has nearly always been underrated in Hollywood but has proven over time why he's still around while so many others have vanished into obscurity. As such, he has always been my favorite foreign actor. He's also my favorite American actor. And speaking of Star Trek, Shatner is the reason that show is still remembered and enjoyed some 55 years after it ended. Not because of Leonard Nimoy. A good man, Nimoy. But William Shatner was the wind beneath Star Trek's wings. He is - and remains - Canada's greatest contribution to entertainment history on the North American continent. And - my god - he went into space! At the unbelievable age of 90! That took real Captain Kirk level courage. So for these reasons, and many others, he will go down in film history like Clark Gable, Burt Lancaster, Jimmy Stewart, and all those who have made an indelible impression on the public psyche.*

I've been a fan of Bill Shatner for many years, having grown up watching classic Trek episodes in syndication, and I was charmed by Spock like so many others. Several years later in a moment of nostalgia I decided to watch an episode and ... with great respect to Leonard Nimoy ... I realized that (for me) the heart of classic Trek was Captain Kirk. To this day I don't believe any actor will ever eclipse Shatner in the role he helped shape and define. I also enjoy watching him elevate the role of TJ Hooker in the very '80's action cop show of that name. We don't often see his other roles and performances over the years. Your RU-vid channel is helpful in that regard. One nice thing about getting older is that you realize people are all multidimensional. Shatner burns along a brighter spectrum than most, in his acting and his life. Believe it or not, I think there are words from a Country song that fit Bill quite well: "Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do sometimes don't know how to take him. He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right." In real life Bill seems mischievous as a cat and spirited as a prize horse. To engage him you'd better be prepared for the ride. As an actor he's more layered and gifted than the stereotype that is perpetuated about him. He has a signature style that sets him apart, like the best actors, artists and performers. Having got that off my chest, I thank you for bringing us some of his early and rare performances. I also enjoy spotting other familiar actors in their own early screen performances. Thank you for the content.

More like 60 yrs - just watched a 1962 show he played a young doctor - million dollar practice - Fred Astaire was the host - funny what a good actor Shatner was before he became Captain Kirk.

Thank you Ruby. I had a little giggle at Bill's more obvious Canadian accent during the 'All Summer Long' clip! I've had the privilege of visiting Stratford, Ontario visiting the lovely Shakespeare Festival Theatre a few times to see various plays. I can only imagine what it must have been like to work when it was a tent, with no air conditioning (it can get VERY hot there in Summer!) etc.

I just wanted to say even before watching this I am a big William Shatner fan I've been reviewing other programming that he did before Star Trek and I had no idea he was a busy actor for about 10 of the 15 years before he even joined the Star Trek cast his sister in a TV interview once was praising him and told the story about how when he was growing up in Montreal Canada I believe he wandered away from his mother and she was worried about him and she found him watching a man with a monkey doing tricks so he was always kind of even a little demon as a child I think William Shatner has a very complicated man he has a good side and a bad side like most of us do maybe despite his faults provide a lot of jobs with the about 15 years ago he played a lawyer I can't remember the name of the series but he was good than that also I don't like it the way the news media and a lot of fans have gone after him about his personal life and there was rumors that he drowned his second wife that was very uncalled for that wasn't very rough time in his life second wife was a alcoholic and he couldn't help what she did necessarily stories about Hillman Leonard Nimoy have again off and on relationship as friends that's a part of life we all go through the same thing thanks for the entertaining years William Shatner you're a damn good actor people shouldn't be worried about your personal life
