Farm Aid co-founder and President Willie Nelson performs "Forgiving You Was Easy" with Johnny Rodriguez at Farm Aid in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985.
A performance from the first Farm Aid benefit concert. Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp founded Farm Aid and serve on the board of directors. The three agreed that family farmers were in dire need of assistance and decided to plan a concert for America. The show was put together in six weeks and was held on September 22, 1985 in Champaign, Illinois before a crowd of 80,000 people. It raised over $9 million for America's family farmers. Performers included Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and many more.
Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's Board of Directors in 2001 to help further Farm Aid's mission of keeping family farmers on their land.

It would be nice to get Johnny going again haven't seen him for a while. Last time I saw him was hanging out with Ray Benson at Capitol Building in Nashville behind stage. That has been too long. I worked the stage for Willie and I am sure many are missing B now.

I love both but I just discovered Johnny R. and am totally captivated by him. A special kind of singer! Together they were the best. Don't you love how Johnny , is "bends" the right word, the words to a song, i. e., "the golden years?" Gives me the chills. Such a talent. And still, after all these years, is as good as ever.

Something crazy happened beaten Willie and Johnny. Johnny was married to his daughter for like 7 months and she was gone. He would travel with Willie and his daughter and a drop of a hate he was GONE. Neither will ever talk about it.

Back I the early 70s when J. Rod was getting fairly popular, I wasn't particularly a fan. But in the last few years I've seen him on a couple of things on TV, and he was singing real authentic country stuff. Sounded GOOD & country, UNLIKE the garbage on today's radio. My apologies, Johnny R.
