What a pleasantly surprising version of this classic old song, presented by one of America's most talented interpreters of vocal music! I had not imagined the song being presented this way, and it is excellent. Thanks, Willie Nelson, for sharing this with the rest of us!
Jenny Pugh yeah I was really confused cause Siri didn’t recognize the song and when I looked up the lyrics it brought up the original but I was almost 100% sure Willie was singing.
When Willie sings a classic he sings it HIS way. And it's usually quite different from the way everyone else does it. But that's okay! I've found that I generally like Willie's renditions - they are unique and equally enjoyable.
I love Willie Nelson! I have never been disappointed with anything he has done. His contribution to extending the longevity of these classics provides memories of when music was music with understandable lyrics and rhythm. Thanks for this post. It's one song I had never heard him do.
@Willie Nelson official fan inbox Yes Willie, I saw you at Wembley in 2013, Birmingham Arena in 2016 and at Stalybridge Arena in 2019! Gigs I will always remember And I thank you for those memories 🙂
Oh, the towering feeling Just to know somehow you are near I have often walked on this street before But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before All at once am I several stories high Knowing I'm on the street where you live Are there lilac trees in the heart of town Can you hear a lark in any other part of town Does enchantment pour out of every door No, it's just on the street where you live For oh, the towering feeling Just to know somehow you are near The overpowering feeling That any second you may suddenly appear People stop and stare, they don't bother me For there's nowhere else on earth That I would rather be Let the time go by, I won't care if I Can be here on the street where you live
Shame that Billcoxyz1956 didnt enjoy this late 50's song. I remember hearing it on the radio at that time. Cant blame Willy on the way it was written. Im assuming the 1956 at the end of his name would put at the right time it was sung. Oh well, it was pleasing to the masses.............John. D.
@Willie Nelson official fan inbox Hey Willie! I can remember listening to your rendition of Mona Lisa 26 years ago, so I've been a fan for maybe 32 years. What I also love is your cameo appearances in movies, usually as some don't-care-a-damn looking dude!
