Me too. My Wilson's came to the Appalachians of Kentucky before some came to the Mountians of Georgia and Alabama later. My ancestor was Joseph R. Wilson and he had a twin brother named Rufus. There mother was a Goodman. Some of my Wilson's in North Carolina married Cherokees

Were the Ulster Wilsons a mix of Gunn/Innes/William the Conqueror origin, or one specific origin? Thanks

Most of the Ulster Wilsons were from the lowlands/central belt region of Scotland. Or from northern England up around Yorkshire. They were probably of the William the Conqueror origin. But it is entirely possible for them to have been from out in Aberdeenshire. Or from far north to Caithness/Sutherland. The only way you will find that out is to trace your Wilsons as far back as you can and pinpoint a location in Scotland or England, in which they originated from. You're welcome. And thanks for watching!

@@Evanmonster1 having trouble getting past 1800 in Dungannon, Tyrone Co. Certainly not expecting to get back to the Ulster plantations. I know you alluded to this, but it would clarify things a bit to just come right out and say not all Wilsons are related, because the name had several origins. Thanks for posting & responding.

@@kerriwilson7732 If you give me the name of the ancestor you're trying to trace back, along with the birthdate and location of birth, I can try and help you out with that. I had mentioned that the Wilson name is the 3rd most common name in Britain. And that Wilsons from the far north have different origins from Wilsons down south. So, I did mention that in my video. No worries!

@@Evanmonster1 not trying to be contentious, just pointing out many viewers assume the common name equals common ancestor. It is possible to watch your video & conclude the Wilson name has uncertain origin rather than multiple origins. Several of my Wilson ancestors left Dungannon circa 1850. My assumption is that they were siblings. The oldest was George Wilson, born 1829. He married an English woman he met on the crossing. I assume the siblings were all unmarried at embarking. I assume they travelled together. I don't know the ports or ship name. I don't know the exact year. I am uncertain the parent's names or dates. I can find more names of his siblings. Thanks.

@@kerriwilson7732 No worries, Kerri. So, it's George Wilson, born in 1829 in Dungannon, Tyrone, Ireland then?
