Carnie's contralto is unbelievable omg, i know this is dubbed over with the studio version but it's still really impressive that she can sing that low.
Those ladies know how to sing! Amazing performance by the amazing progeny of the Beach Boys. I have a 7 year old daughter, and I have made sure she is familiar with Wilson Phillips. How can anybody help but feel inspired when you listen to them?
My wife asked why I love watching YOU TUBE: THIS is why. Never saw this one before and it is just great! Saw the BBs a few times back in the 80s and 90s. II am sure the guys would approve.
I was impressed with.this version! When Carnie started.signing the low part...it was like ,omg! It blew my mind! Awesome rendition, ladies! I bet your Dads are proud@
Absolutely Amazing harmonizing!! Brian Wilson Carne's Dad wrote this song Good Vibrations. Wilson phillips and the Daughter's of The Beach Boys nailed it. You women are so talented!! I can't stop playing this song Good Vibrations over and over again!! Just Amazing!! Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys has to be the Proudest Father on the Planet. He has two Beautiful Daughter's who sing like Angels. 😍
This shows you how incredibly difficult this song is to sing-and how innovative it was when first recorded. The girls-like their parents , continue to harmonise inn a class better than almost everyone else.
Wilson Phillips knock the Best Song Ever Written out of the park. Yes, really, its closest to the true nature of energy across our universe....music/vibrations are what we are made of.....glorious , never heard anyone other than Beach Boys do this justice. Amazing.
If you can't tell this has been worked on in the studio, there is something wrong with your hearing. It's so obvious it has been digitally remastered. This isn't live at all.
It took Brian Wilson months to get the tracks to work properly on the melody. He was the brains behind the Beach Boys. And the song was one of the few songs that could compete with the Beatles.
Absolutely stunned by this version. They all done good. I got here by following beach boys, mamas and papas, Wilson Phillips. You tube links have led me to this stream. Well worth it.x
Wow! I've always envied the ability to sing your own part right beside someone else singing something completely different and these girls nailed it! Of course the apples don't fall far from the Mama Beach tree!
I just got through watching Echos of the Canyon Documentary featuring their parents. They are descendants of rock royalty. Great voices, great harmony.
I think that's Matt Jardine, another Beach Boy offspring in the background and he has a terrific voice as well. Wonderful harmonies they all heard around the house growing up, plus a lot of teaching and good genes! LOL
As wonderful as The Beach Boys songs are, they aren’t covered that much because the harmonies are so complex. These daughters et al just hit this outta the park amazing harmonies.
I was going to make the same comment. When we listen to a song like this one, we love it, but we forget that to write these kinds of harmonies one needs to really know music and to hear everything in his or her head. Today's song writers know how to use Pro Tools to perfection, reason why most songs sound the same and lack in the complex harmonics we have here.
@@magg93 Brian Wilson's genius of the Beach Boys daughters R on the ends. Chynna Phillips Baldwin is John & Michelle Phillips of the Mama's & Papa's. Top groups of the 60's. Wife to Billy Baldwin 30 yrs, Mom of his 3 kids, Aunt in-law to Justin Bieber. Now with her own RU-vid channel California Preachn.
The greatest female group that never received the recognition they deserved because they lived in their parents' shadow. Could you imagine a WP-BB collaboration?!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!
These melodic harmonizations are what people love about the BB. When covers occur, the #1 question is where are the harmonies? Good on WP for making them their focus. ❤❤❤❤
Best GV cover I've ever heard. This isn't an actual live performance, it's a "music video." But it is so well done I can hardly care. I just love Wilson Phillips and their families. I always have. Respects.
This takes my breath away! I love you ladies so much and this proves you''re perfection in singing and pitch and harmony that NO artist today has!!!!!!!!! Release a new album of new material of your own!
I dont even know about music anymore lol never know whats on the radio these day they might trick ya and youd think its a girl pr a guy then when u find out its like wow! :)
In the Netherlands we do have an expression that says: 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree'. I don't think I have to explain that one. Well done ladies, a fantastic tribute to The Beach Boys
@@StormyLynn724 I've stumbled here in Feb 2022 and this truly outstanding on-stage version is absolutely mesmerisingly good. Top effort, and nice twist in the arrangement having some originally instrumental parts sung too! That relentless 'bom bom bom bom', section culminating in that transcendent 11th chord just has to work for the whole song to work. It's the moment our ears are craving. NO problem here! Brilliant work indeed.
@@ifly2themoon171 it didn't. Carnie used some octaver to add some low end to her voice but not autotune. If you listen to 2:15 onwards you can hear how slight variations in their pitches create a phasing effect.
@@mikosoft Youre right its not Autotune .. But mind its a common phrase used Nowadays when people hear somekinda effect , but anyway. I also dont think its an Octaver, cause the octaver flattens the whole part sung octave Higher or lower ...depends on how its used/programmed/operated.. I think a Phazer kinda effect comes closer to what we hear here. Well whatever the effect is there ...The Girls AND Boys ..Do outstanding Harmony Performance here
@@Hanzey1966 you are all wrong!!! OMG hilarious..fools you are, THATS HER VOICE, no machine just her. ASK HER, she will honestly tell you. Its HER VOICE, SINGING THE LOW NOTES, all 100% her natural voice.
How enduring and brilliant the music of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys was and is can also be found in this brilliant a capella version of Good Vibrations. His daughters Wendy and Carnie Wilson and Chynna Phillips, the daughter of Michelle and John Phillips (The Mamas and the Papas), accomplish amazing and wonderful things here. I think Brian Wilson can be - and certainly is - very proud of his daughters. I wish him and his family all the happiness on earth.
My wife and I both enjoy the Masked Singer show. This last season when the Lambs first appeared and started their first performance, I told my wife there is no mistaking the wonderful and uniqueness of their harmonies. Within those first few seconds I told her I knew it was Wilson Phillips. I stuck to my guns the whole season, and was so happy I was right! They are so far the only group I've guessed correct from day one. A hard rocking guitarist, they are probably the only pop group I actually liked. I'll admit it was for 2 reasons. The first, I loved their vocal blend and harmonies, and the second was I had a mad crush on Wendy, and still kinda do! I thought she was so hot back then, and I still think she is today!!! ♥♥♥
Of course they sound awesome! Carnie and Wendy Wilson are the daughters of Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys and Chynna Phillips is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas. Their harmony is off the charts!
Wilson Phillips did a great job covering The Beach Boys song, "Good Vibrations" with this performance. Their vocals are in perfect harmony here. Carry on Wilson Phillips!
You do understand the original song was by The Beach Boys, these are his daughters Brian Wilson's Wendy and Carnie Wilson.. plus Chynna Philips daughter of The Mamas and Papa's, John and Michelle Phillips
Brian Wilson’s daughters and John/ Michelle Phillips daughter. John wrote incredible songs for the mamas and papas. Brian Wilson...well... a musical genius
l think y'all are forgetting something.... these girls are The Beach Boys' daughters. If anything, they're just their own take on their dads music and quite honestly, I think they did an awesome job. I would rather hear them do their dads music first before I heard anyone else try it. After all, they were raised around it and learned from the best.
+LaReca Noland Totally agree. People are wrong to make a direct comparison in terms of which generation did it better. Neither does it better, they do it differently. The dads have a dimension in their performance that no-one will ever emulate. And the daughters bring an added dimension of their own to the performance that comes from their connections and history with the first generation. As a big fan of the Beach Boys I expected to hate this performance but actually found myself liking it. Just one complaint: the electric quality to the lead singer's voice when she does the solo. That needs to be naturalized as it adds a synthetic quality to the sound that does not need to be there. Otherwise I'm glad I heard this.
+LaReca Noland No comparison needed. They have a unique style......it's just that 3 live female voices cannot do what they do in the studio........5 or more harmonies and layers of their own voices. You can't sing 2 of your own harmony parts live. One has to be on the track.
