Hello great book I read this about 40 years ago those were the days it was considered ok to hide in the toilet for an hour I was pissing my self with laughter a big scaffolder in the next cubicle was smoking gange I between fits off laughter I said of they raid these toilets they will think it me on the gange read somewhere what books have you enjoyed the most wilt sprung in to my mind of and I got on a download 40 years later still smirking all over the place thanks for posting this
I read this when I was 14 in 1990. My aunty lives in Spain and she would visit and bring paperbacks to my nannas. I read this lol. I couldn't put it down and I had to sneak it. It is one of the best most memorable books I've ever read lol..thanks for uploading. I'm laughing so much 🙂
Wilt Tom Sharpe 1105am 15.5.24 I have never lived there, spain. visited it, on solitary vacation (saved a giro or two to get dome sun).....beats sitting about listening to pipe bangers (patriotic UK foreigners)....pretty much like Blackpool on a 4 bar fire bender. can't see the fascination, my self. inky spain's saving grace being figuerre and the ghost of gala walking down the beach. if yer out there, on the costa, then my advice would be to stay there. it must be far superior to here and you dont have to listen to jealous limey types (irrespective of whether they're jealous or not).......all pufftas, anyway, these Spaniards. and, personally speaking, some Brickies frustrate their innate erudition so's they aint lumbered with demiks, Spaniards and overly periotic U K based foreign types
I also read this on holiday as a young kid listening to this again as a 60-year-old is brilliant it brings back so many memories, and it's just as funny today 😂
the funniest writer i've had the pleasure of reading and listening to. he just gets me to a place where i'm just overcome with laughing . he creeps up on you. thanks
Wilt Tom Sharpe 15.5.24 never read sharpe (not to be confused with Sheffield's own tv personality)......trlrgudusl (pro:: televisual) adaptations of this guy's oeuvre (pro: eeeurve) suggests what? that irritable comedic cads are few and far between. sniff...... if yer lucky to find one then leave be. and get to know said irritable cove at yer mild peril, perhaps? most angsty types are posers. though sharpe seems genuine enough. allegedly, listening to an audio in one fell swoop equates with a decent lengthy sex sesh..........................when's that happen?
I read this over 30 years ago and wet myself laughing so hard. I’m going to buy an incontinence pad before listening to this. Tom Sharpe is the master.
This is the best audio I have had the pleasure to enjoy , on this RU-vid platform. Several tedious tasks have zipped by with these words in my ears . I must have this in book form so I can hold it , and reread it , and maybe pass it around. Thank you.
WHAT A BOOK, 🤣NOW I STRUGGLE TO GET OFF THE FIST PAGE OF MOST BOOKS, I READ EVERY PAGE TWICE, COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN AND HERE IT IS SO I CAN LISTEN TO IT 🤩WHAT A STROKE OF LUCK 😛THANKS FOR POSTING 👍👍👍
Abstract Superconducting circuits are a competitive platform for quantum computation because they offer controllability, long coherence times and strong interactions-properties that are essential for the study of quantum materials comprising microwave photons. However, intrinsic photon losses in these circuits hinder the realization of quantum many-body phases. Here we use superconducting circuits to explore strongly correlated quantum matter by building a Bose-Hubbard lattice for photons in the strongly interacting regime. We develop a versatile method for dissipative preparation of incompressible many-body phases through reservoir engineering and apply it to our system to stabilize a Mott insulator of photons against losses. Site- and time-resolved readout of the lattice allows us to investigate the microscopic details of the thermalization process through the dynamics of defect propagation and removal in the Mott phase. Our experiments demonstrate the power of superconducting circuits for studying strongly correlated matter in both coherent and engineered dissipative settings. In conjunction with recently demonstrated superconducting microwave Chern insulators, we expect that our approach will enable the exploration of topologically ordered phases of matter.
Wilt Tom Sharpe 15.5.24 Is this the rum bugger you, mr B, spoke of many years ago?....spaghetti and veg stock starch seems to have instigated the writing of this tome..........
I’ve read many of Tom Sharpes’ books over many years. I can only describe them as, never boring and ‘Spontaneously Hilarious!’…..Timelessly entertaining and definitely worth reading, or a listen.
Wilt Tom Sharpe 15.5.24 the first book i ever laughed out loud at was Bachelor Boys - The Young Ones..ekton, mayall, mayer. a fine hard back. hitchhiker's guide...... then Gargantua & Pantagruel was also LoL... A wonderful thing, this, to read some words and find laughing out loud is the net result. very rare, i feel, if the reader has cottoned on to the writer's thought process or innate ire or joy at that which he seeks to give vent to. of course, there's the guys ho get a grip of the wrong rind, cutting a completely different grain....but they're a completely different set of kettles. surrealism enters therein......
Easily amongst Pratchett Adams, Harrison, and it's a long list of names already. Anybody wanting to read The Stainless Steel Rat, for our appreciation, would be.🐊
Wilt Tom Sharpe 15.5.24 i hsve no idea if it's true but does the cry: Don't read or listen to the tome Wilt lest you be subsumed by a bunch of flea bags coming at yer claiming to be millwall (read anywhere north of haslingdon)...? the antidote to that being I, partridge......or bachelor boys....
I have always felt that Roger allum would be a perfect wilt. He was in the ridiculous film starring Mel Smith. Loved smith's work but only allum could portray the tortured wilt to perfection, in my opinion. He is much older now, but what a chance missed. Love everything by Tom Sharpe......he is sorely missed. He was a comic genius.
Thank you for uploading. If you have have access to The Wilt Inheritance or any other Tom Sharpe books, I'd really appreciate it if you could upload them. Many thanks once again
"the ONLY danger might be sextuplets...Henry would be pleased". Funny but also brilliant in its brevity. After all that happened it brings their entire relationship right back to the start of the book, no dialogue required. This is the fourth novel of his I've read, and it's difficult to make comparisons. To label it not "as funny" isn't fair & sounds almost disappointing, although it wasn't. Comparing apples to oranges, I guess I'd say it's "weighted" to roughly the last 1/3 for its best moments, but I think it's worth it. It almost requires the longer character build-ups for the humor to then strike harder. Not sure if that makes sense. Bottom line: thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for the opportunity!
15 years ago I got arrested and accused of having robbed a gas station in a region which I had never been to in my life, at the time. The interrogation of Wilt reminds me a lot about that only that I had two "officers" interrogating me, playing good cop/bad cop. It was so absurd, I couldn't do anything but laugh at their faces after 2 hours into that horrific performance. Cleared of all charges and never heard a "sorry" at any point. Clowns I tell ya.
I'm not sure I can put into words properly how much this piece of art has affected and taught me. First, I experienced amusement, then outright hilarity, followed by thoughtfulness and utter disgust for Sallie's behaviour, but for which, as a surprise to myself, I appeared to have some form of understanding nevertheless. This story is of such unfathomable depth that many, maybe even most, who listen to it, will grasp it in its entirety only years later in their lives for what it truly is. This is openly disguised criticism on the general public at its best and with way too little recognition even after almost half a century.
Wilt Tom Sharpe 15.5.24 might just end in time for Pointless.....a lengthy sesh. and, no, insane tales of dead dirigible dolls peppered with a hefty dose of fuck this fuck that does not offend me.....
I hope this is funny enough to help DEAL with the cho and Rad. Tom..Need my mind at a happier place to be able to cope with all this. I need to laugh. Lol helps heal
Wilt Tom Sharpe 1339pm the era of being heavily into mastication and maceration and masturbation - confounded as some tawdry landlord who hid away her guilt re: committing murder has some man about town harassed and mithered to nigh on death by dairy queens, faux chippies and brickies and wannabe role players dressing as emergency service personnel.....sll in solidarity with the mencap twins. mother!!!!!!!!!
