Now I found this hard to swallow when I discovered this for myself so believe it or not but hear me out on this one. It turns out that as the UK is a free & democratic country, residents of Wimbledon are allowed to own a long wheelbase Landrover if they so wish too (I know, mad isn’t it ?). In fact if truth be told, regardless whether you live in Wimbledon or any other part of the UK for that matter you can purchase whatever car you so wish and if that’s not crazy enough what’s more is, there is no requirement of Wimbledon residents to justify their purchase of a long wheelbase Landrover. Can’t get over it, world’s gone mad hasn’t it ?

Here in the US 4x4s twice that size are the norm in cities, suburbs and rural areas. The vast majority of people who own them really don’t have any legitimate need for them. They buy them as status symbols and out of an unfounded need to feel “safe” on the road. I say “unfounded” because most of these people are horrible drivers. They rarely use turn signals, they drive too fast and they park crooked in tight spaces. Then while contributing to the saturation of these behemoths on the roads, they complain about the price of fuel.

No, it was partially caused by the motor industry though by lobbying to allow ridiculously oversized vehicles on the road and preventing alternative modes of transport, so people use the mode that creates the most danger.

Aren't Land Rovers really, really prone to mechanical failures? Data I'd seen a few years ago indicated that they pretty much the most unreliable and worst performing cars you could buy in the UK (or maybe that was Range Rovers, same difference).
