Hi Nick, these are clips from TV programmes I recorded at the time. It would have been Match of the Day or The Big Match I suppose, so the rights will be owned by BBC/ITV I would presume.
@i am me They were a nasty spiteful team that were everything that was bad about 80s football. Jones and Wise in particular exemplified the personality of the team.
@i am meThey were successful at what they did and loved by their own fans, but detested by everyone else. I think Wimbledon were respected as the underdog that punched above their weight, but their style won them few friends. I used to think they would make a good merger partner for Millwall. One had no ground, but had Premier League status, a small but loyal fan base that was even willing to suffer Selhurst Park every week, and a competitive, if widely unloved team. The other had a week team, but a modern ground and larger, but widely unloved support. Plus they were on the same train line. Obviously no one else ever thought it was a good idea and they ended up as a new club in MK, just as unloved.
