Ironically, Burger King took over the vast majority of Wimpy Bars when their then-owners United Biscuits sold them to BK's then-parent company Grand Metropolitan in 1989. At the time, BK had just 30 outlets in the UK, while Wimpy and McDonald's already had hundreds. Grand Met wanted to strengthen BK's presence as Wimpy by that time struggled against McDonald's, even as they converted most of their outlets from the traditional waitress-and-chinaware service to the counter-and-disposables model. The outlets that were never converted were bought out by the management, thus leading to Wimpy becoming a small player in the UK market despite their historical dominance.
Wimpy is actually a British fast food chain only very few left now. Its branding was once Wimpy is The Home of The Hamburger. The greatest burgers under the bun
My view is that Wimpy is trying to get revenge on the Wimpy restaurant for using his name without his permission by promoting one of their biggest rivals
Wimpy is entirely too old for a Burger King Kids Meal (now called King Jr. Meal). He's a grown (and fat) man in his 30's, 40's, 50's or early 60's. Even though a King Jr. Meal is still way cheaper than even a small adult meal, Wimpy still have to buy the more expensive adult meal, if he have any money, which he usually doesn't.
