Before reading this story, please know that my In-laws are the loveliest people you could meet and I adore them. In 2008, prior to this game, my wife and I celebrated two years' marriage. My mother-in-law invited my family to a Christmas party she was throwing, the day of this game. Social events between the two families was still a relatively new thing, and this was my Mother-in-law's first Christmas party in years. My wife and I are going back and forth: "You aren't going to sneak off to watch the game." "Well then your mother better have the game on a television in the party." "It's my Mom's Christmas party, not a football party." "I understand that, but my family never misses an Eagles-Cowboys game, let alone one that's essentially a playoff game. This is a BIG deal." My wife's family are not the least interested in sports, but because they are so nice they agree to put the game on. My younger brother and I are usually very loud when watching the game, but we kept the noise down to not disturb the party - that is, until the second quarter. By the third quarter, the Christmas party had essentially turned into an Eagles watch party with my brother and I leading the chants and screaming with every insane highlight-reel play. My wife was so pissed at me. Needless to say, I got my Mother-in-law extra Christmas gifts that year. 🤣

So many odd things had to happen that day for this to be a win-and-in game. 2 teams lost which gave Philly life in the afternoon game. They made the most of it !!

What a day this turned out to be. Going into the day the Eagles had very little hope to make the playoffs. They needed to win and needed a ton of help. Well in the 1 pm window the football gods were on the Eagles side. After Houston beat Chicago. And then Oakland going cross country into the eastern time zone and upsetting Tampa Bay, with the help of Michael Bush, the Eagles went into that game with a lot of emotion after the help they got. And then capped it all off with a demolition of the Boys at the Linc. Just a magical day all around for the Eagles. And this game helped spark them to a great playoff run as well. Will never forget this day.

I was driving home from work and I had to travel long distances at jobs I was contracted to. No smart phone streams, nowhere near Philly to get radio reception. I called my girlfriend at the time and had her put the phone against the TV. Had to get innovative during those days haha but that was such a memorable night.

I remember that NFC East Rivalry between Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys in 2008 was back in the Day. My Favorite team is Dallas Cowboys, that's because they were Undefeated Streak. I hope they going win in NFC Championship in NFL Season Finale, and My favorite Running Back of Dallas Cowboys is Marion Barber. I have to say I love his Long Dreadlocks.

NFL Throwback Rocks My World

This was the first Eagles game I ever went to. I still have the certificate they gave me. I remember doing the wave, and singing the fight song while thinking of my Grandpa. (Who worked for the birds way back when).

I was 16 at the time. Before this game, I was split between the Patriots and Cowboys as far as who to root for. On the morning of this game, I opted to root for just the Patriots. The way the Cowboys fell apart felt like the earthquake that came after Jesus died on the cross.
