Five rival animal clans battle it out for power in the remote wilderness of Botswana. Each will kill to protect their dynasty, each would kill to take the throne. The winners are rewarded with the richest hunting grounds in the kingdom, but the fate of the losers is brutal: exile or death. The only way to succeed is to build an army to steal power before the others cut them off at the knees. Fighting to survive, killing to succeed ... nothing will stop them trying to reign supreme over the Savage Kingdom.

I am leaving this comment for a reminder when I come back that I have watched this awestruck documentary whose every stakes are mind-blogging. Cinematography, narrator 's voice with enticing words, portrait of story, and so on, what a documentary it is!!

My favorite thing about Nature shows is how it allows self reflection from an existential standpoint. One can take the side of the predator or the prey, and even see beyond the sides to understand the greater context of their environment. Thank you Nat Geo for releasing this

Very eloquently put. For whatever reasons we are drawn into reflection, from whichever standpoint, predator or prey and we look beyond the two sides, we haven't even begun to tap into the wealth of wisdom and knowledge that we can learn from her. These amazing adventurers open whole worlds to us and allow us viewers to see nature at her rawest; the agony and the ecstasy of survival where she makes no concessions for the innocents but gives place to the fittest. I fail to thank these and all of the people at National Geographic et al often enough for bringing these incredible documentaries to us by a simple point and click.

I know! Right? I love that about Charles Dance! Only a voice like his can make the wilds of Africa look like poetry in motion! LoL! Yes, Morgan Freeman's another one with the right kind of voice. It sure worked in Shawshank! However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Alan Rickman (may he rest in peace) with his sophisticated rich, full bodied baritone bass voice to rival Gregory Peck (To Kill a Mockingbird). Even as a baddy in Quigley Down Under, Rickman's voice got my full undivided attention. ;)

Just think on that a bit. If it is like watching a movie, it's probably bc it is created to be so, therefore it's not reality, but a production.

Right? They're loyalty is unmatched for sure.... That's why the lion's and the wild dog's are my favorite. They are all about family and loyalty and I hate the hyenas because they are back stabbers and will even bully and sometimes even kill their own family members. Pathetic. Ha

The fact they were named and seen as characters is a big part of the problem. this was essentially the animal version of a Hollywood action, fight film. It may have been fun to watch, but its not based in reality. Quick edits aren't natural.
