The late 80s and 90s was the best Indy Car racing imo All the names, some 70s veterans, the 80s rising Stars... Miss those races The 500 this year was a great old school style race, not the same but very exciting!!!

If I remember correctly, Al Jr had been involved in 3 previous "questionable incidents" prior to this, where he basically took a page from Paul Tracy's book and punted cars off track--- Mario twice, and Emmo once. This was his second attempt with Emmo, and the result was a bitter pill to swallow. Al Jr's driving improved after this, though, and I don't recall him trying this crap again since it cost him a potential 500 win.

emmo was under the apron, this was his fault. you see emmo understeer into lil al, we all did

Solid synopsis. I do believe that Mario was a naturalized US Citizen by ‘69? Previous to Emmo’s win that would go back to Graham Hill in ‘66 for last foreign born ‘500’ winner.
