hey folks, thought I would make this my first gun in the 10 guns in10 days challenge. this gun is a very old firearm that belong to my father-in-law. junior used this gun for many years for turkey shoots he would shoot every weekend. this gun has literally won him thousands of dollars throughout his life. Junior passed away about 15 16 years ago. so this one's an honor of Junior.

That is one fine shotgun Rob. The story is the icing on the cake. Sounds like Junior was a great guy and a good friend. It brought a smile to my face the first time you described the 37 as his "pride and joy". I think we do pretty good honor to those before us in keeping and sharing these pieces of history. This was a good one!

Thanks Marc, yes he was an excellent guy. He And I both shared love for firearms. No telling how many thousands of rounds of shotgun shells we put down range together.

I have my grandfathers Model 37 in 12 gauge. Mine has a Winchester name monogram butt plate. first gun I ever think i shot. I recall it puttin my 8 year old butt in the snow with a very sore shoulder.
@HamiltonOutdoors
@HamiltonOutdoors 3 года назад
Yes I think the original butt plate did have Winchester on it. This one has been shot a lot and has had a rough life.

A model Winchester model 37 is at the very top of my gun “most wanted” list. My uncle, also named Junior, let me borrow my grandpa’s old 16 gauge model 37 with a 26 inch barrel to hunt with when I was a kid. Grandpa had traded it away at some point and Junior had tracked it down and traded or bought it back.

I hunted quail and dove with my ad as a boy on west Texas and my dad had a matching model 37 in 20 gauge as well, my dad called me to his home on about 2008 and he gave me his guns he had 5 total, included were 2 handguns a 22 and a 357 and a Marlin 22 model 39M that was my grandads Ana a Savage 99 in 250-3000 that was my other grandads and my dads model 37. So I have 2 model 37’s both 20 ga. My dad had a problem from birth his right shoulder was about 2-3 inches lower than the left, it kept him out of the Army m anyway to shoot the shotgun he folded a part of a sheet and placed over the buttstock to raise his cheek weld so he could shoot it he held it on with blue electrical tape and he made a front sight out of a plastic tube, and taped it to he front on the bead he modeled it after a Weaver sight sold in the 50’s and 60’d this was all he could afford anyway I have his shotgun fixed the way he had it I lot him at 95 in 2010 and have kept the gun the way he had it in his memory and will pass onto my son one day I already have passed the 22 revolver to my on and will I’ve him the 357 this year good memories with that 20 gauge

I have a red letter in 20ga, , I went to a turkey shoot in 1970 ,one of the boys brought a 12 ga, red letter , but the older men running the shoot would not let him use the red letter, reason uas it was a unfair advantage because of the full length machined choke, like the high $ English guns .
