I'm a huge fan of the model 94, but smooth is never an adjective I would use to describe it. I've seen glassy smooth 73s and Henry rifles that worked like a Swiss clock but the only way for a 94 to be smooth is in comparison to other 94s.
A rifle with a butttery-smooth lever-action is a pure delight, Dave. It's good to know you got your 94 Winchester's action smoothed out. Having owned both 94 Winchesters and 94 Marlins, I've been spoiled by the ever-so-smooth and reliable Marlin action. 73 Winchester clones are incredibly smooth, too, but I'm not a fan of the top ejection dropping empties on my hat or down the front of my shirt. 🤠
10-4 on the top eject. I got myself into the habit of tilting the top of the receiver very slightly to my right when I eject. Problem solved. Back on target in a blink.
It's nice to see a pretty 94 but a few scratches and some patina never hurt shootability. I've got one from 52 and she ain't pretty but she puts meat in the freezer every year.
I have owned a Marlin 39 M for 47 years and the Lever still works hard. Cleaned and lubed it recently. Don't screw too hard on the breakdown thumb nob. I guess I should do some sanding on some hi spots or hit some spots with a stone ..
Nice video! I recently inherited a 1927 SRC 1984 and had issues with feeding/lever sticking . After taking it all apart and cleaning and re assembling it seemed better . I brought her to the range and after about a box and a half she loosened right up . Cheers!
