I will say this... The capstan winch is one amazing tool to have in the tool box. I use mine all the time from pulling logs up steep river banks to yarding brush to the chipper on super long drags. a must have in my book! Thumbs up to you Joe!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks! Yeah I used a floating block. Just pulled a rigging line through a union and attached the block and pulled it up to the height I wanted. Then tied it off at the base of the tree!
@@joebisping6799 Outstanding Joe, 👍 I have an Eder two stroke capstan winch, it's rated for 1,200kg's on a single line pull. Great bit of kit, I was using it recently to pull storm damaged trees out of a river. Take care, 👍🇮🇪
@@joebisping6799 I got a forestry kit with mine, skidding cone, choker chain, a crane sling, two D shackles and 100M of rope all in a waterproof backpack. On the bigger stuff i put a pulley on the load and it doubles my pull. I considered the PCW but it was four stroke. That said the PCW has better accessories like the tree mounting bracket for example.
Good deal! Yeah I considered getting the kit too. I may still end up getting it but we will see. Do you pull tree over with it? If so does it work well? I was thinking I would have to set a prussic mining pulley and prussic in front of it to hold tension until we are ready to pull the tree over.
Why didn't you just 16 it and carry it? You guys making tough work easy is aggravating . What's a tree man gonna complain about if you aren't creating new aches and pains ? . You don't even deserve your lunch ! haha Nice work and thinking anyway , Joe … I guess...
