True but it's size is what makes it so effective. Gives both good counter balance to the thicker heavier blade plus keep your back hand tight and in place for thrusting.

Not regularly or in a class format but I do study forms and read up on them. I also practice them myself from time to time, but have slowed down more so in the later years.
