I’m using a fiat fiorino van.passenger seat folds into the foot well take 9 25litre barrels with me and pulls with ease.xline 45 litre trolley 30ft carbon composite pole.battery charges on 13.1 v and after a days work like yesterday I did 17 houses and indicator was showing 12.4 .brilliant bit of kit.van is cheap to insure and great on fuel
Hello mate, good videos 👍🏼 I started with the backpack and a second hand CLX 27 6 months ago. A univalve was a game changer for saving the water, I added a 30m microbore hose reel to the trolley too so I could leave it at the front and wonder around without moving the trolley constantly. I’ve upgrade to a SLX 22 and a pure freedom trolley. The pure freedom trolley had a lot more range and power, no more lifting and pouring barrels into the backpack and when I do go for a van eventually all I’d need is a tank as it’s got everything else for a van system built into it. I now use the old CLX 27 with the DA applicator on the end and backpack for applying UBIK to conservatory roofs, soffits, fascias and gutters. Literally looking forward to the next vid 👍🏼
@@ashhoward7744 I used to put around 6 in the boot, but you need to pay attention to payloads and have some protection if you was to slam on or crash. I used a dog gird and a make shift bulkhead.

Ive got the Gardiner backpack which is brilliant with the exact same trolley and a Gardiner slx17 pole highly recommend well light with a extension pole for the higher windows, what I do to charge my backpack is I got a small cheap inverter with a cigarette lighter plug and plug it into the socket in my car and it charges as I drive it's always charged up and no chance of forgetting to charge it after work.
Nice one...I have a van mount system but thinking of buying one of these to get to those hard to reach gardens..and when I have someone else working with me..Btw I use the 25 slx carbon pole ..it's lighter but have to tighten the bloody clips up every day.. I also have a carbon phoenix pole 35f and that is so much better But to heavy for a day to day pole.only good for 3 stories. When it's time to buy another pole I'll go for 20foot phoenix carbon..
These are a great back pack, had it 2plus years not one single issue. The Gardiner claps aren’t great are they. If only phantom clamps were standard on Gardiner poles then that would be an ideal pole. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

Hi I use a Gardiner Xtreme 22ft pole, it’s almost faultless.They aren’t the cheapest but I have a Gardiner Slx 25ft pole as a sub, and after two years I have never actually used it. The difference in weight once extended is the difference between light & day. Ova8 High Mod pokes are supposed to be great too. If you are thinking about using a waterfed pole as a full time job you need to spend the extra to get the lightest pole available otherwise your shoulders & elbows will take a serious hit!
I’ve been using Gardiner backpacks and 20 litre containers van system for years over a hose/van mounted water tank system. There are advantages and disadvantages to both,but I much prefer the backpack system.(Please don’t ever strap it to your back!)

Great video...very early stages of starting out. Can you explain why Window cleaners don’t use water from the tap to pump onto windows? In both back packs and tanks it seems that people get purified water in. Instead of buying water if just cleaning soffits and faciers can I fill from the tap? Thanks
Hi. Thanks for the great comments. Pure water has all the natural minerals take. Out of it this allowing for a streak free finish on windows, where’s if water isn’t pure (not filtered) it still has all the natural minerals in it (eg tap water) this leaving windows with streaks and limescale marks. For gutters and fascia cleans it is ok to use tap water unless you have an unlimited supply of pure water, I use tape water and ubik 2000 for fascia and gutter cleans. Hope this helps

Hi mate great information, could you tell me would your 22ft pole reach a dorma window on top of a std terraced house, also how easy is it to fill the backpack with water, as the 25 litre plastic containers are quite heavy
Maybe I can help.I use 18 ft for 95%+ residential. If the dorma is on the second floor an 18 ft pole will easily reach.If it’s on the third floor you probably need a 22ft. I fill backpack with 20 litre containers and yes they’re heavy but easily manageable for any reasonably strong man (or very strong woman) 😄
Can you help me please? I seem to have a female ex connection for both my gardiner hose and my pole hose so can I buy something so i can connect the two? I'm just starting out so made a few mistakes lol
Drop Gardiner an email there customer service is excellent not only will they point you in the right direction they will also give you the products to order for reference

Hi Lee Thanks for the great comments. The pure water will last a considerable time. The only thing I would suggest is to try to make sure it doesn’t freeze
I have 25lt drums of water, the backpack holds 20ltrs id say on average you could do an average 3 bed house with 20ltrs (5 ups 4 downs and a door) that's with the flow turned down quite low. Everybody is different with regards to rinsing etc and you obviously use more water on a first clean. Hope that helps.
@@grantlalala pal if you are doing that many houses a day 5 odd days a week id go straight for a van system set up. Expensive but by the sounds of it you've got the customer base.
clear vision I pay £2.50 per 25lL Quite expensive compared to what spotless water etc charge but unfortunately I don’t have a filling station within an hours drive. I have a reliable source for my water but it is on the expensive side
@@4cleaning214 don't know where I'm going wrong. it's brand new,I've had to fix two different ez snap connections on but when I come to start it up the backpack cuts out. I have cut the ez connection off and the backpack works fine 🤷♂️. Is there a certain order you turn everything on?
@@peterhodge570 I leave the flow on all the time and just turn off the main switch. I’d drop Gardiner an email, they are pretty good at coming back to you fairly quickly. Sounds like a fault to me.
Hi John No we don’t. I’m in Norfolk and I think the closest one is Colchester about 2 hours away. I buy my water from another window cleaner £2.50 per 25lts

Phil Walmsley Thanks Pal. The backpack doesn’t have a cut off but it’s always within 5ft or so so it’s easy to switch off. A lot of the guys I know use a univalve and I shall be getting one when I sort the van system out. Glad you like the videos I hope they help.
Good video but you have literally made every mistake that i did that lot will be in the shed next year, get a transit connect high top and good quality pump and controller and a carbon fibre pole much cheaper in the long run.
Not really a mistake. sometimes budgets aren't available for vans or van set ups. This I feel is a good basic set up for someone dipping there toe into WFP, and to be honest if I wanted to sell these items a little way down the road then I wouldn't lose much on them.

I already door canvas for a living lol so I’m normally finished for 1pm and looking to canvass for window cleaning until 5pm and get a solid 100 customers in the first month. Charlie Flynn thanks for the kind words Charlie. I’ve been window cleaning for 10 years but only running my own business for a short period. Everywhere in the uk is different for how to gain customers. I’ve never done a leaflets drop but in quite active on social media, word of mouth is also a great way to gain a customer base. Once you get a few onboard you will soon see your round build. Hope this helps keep me updated on your progress . John

Rob and dawn jowett thanks for the great comments RO systems vary. For a full van system you are looking at around £2500 for a low end system but they go into the thousands. Look up BladeRight on google or Facebook great service and good price.
