Using ColorControl from github, create HDR color profile, If you are using peak 1000 mode (which It's the only way to produce anything near to true HDR), change max luminance values to 1000 and now you have fixed gamma (washed out screen issue). You can go step further and try brightness boost. I have found that best values are 5-10% boosts. 5% is luminance peak 735 nits, 7-8% is around 500-550nits. It boosts over darkening average screen brightness that is set with stock peak 1000 mode. Another good change for gaming is changing color space to REC2020 as it increases HDR color gamut and HDR elements have more saturated colors. But as most content on internet is created in SDR space it can produce shifted and over saturated colors, still it's perfect for games that don't need perfect color accuracy.
