The most strange thing is that right now Canon can create 5nm equivalent chips using this technique that is the high end of what ASML machines make after years of development and billions of dollars in R&D. I really want these methods to be successful so that the world shouldn't rely on only one company. 💚

I don't know why people here seem to pretent Canon would just drop this stuff out of nowhere. They also have decades of experience making lithography machines and were the market leader until ASML came around with their competitive processes at smaller node sizes. Sure, competition in this space is certainly welcome given that ASML is also kind of the bottleneck for many investments into the semiconductor space. But for that to come into fruition, many more things must go right before this stuff will be adapted (yields must be decent, etc). Also, TSMC is now working with a 3nm process node already, so given that and the time it requires to build a new fab, ASML is still in the lead for min 4 years.

Windows 11 made me consider switching to Linux but now with 12 im 100% doing it...not just because of the UI but how much more aggressive microsoft is getting with violating user privacy. When it comes to how small Cannon can go. Even if they can't get as small as they may want to. That doesn't mean the technology is useless. Releasing a new OS is a good way to increase the perceived obsolescence of Windows 10. Idk how much that contributes, but I'd imagine people at Microsoft are aware of it. I have win11 on one notebook, otherwise win10. Win10 are not looking great, but it's a good thing, OS should draw is little attention as possible. Win11 are somewhat cleaner, but many things are just one mouse click further, I don't hate them, but I can't name anything that's better. Maybe file explorer which I don't use, maybe window management, but win10 have powertoys and fancy zones. To be honest, they might be a little faster, but it might be fault of my other notebook, which feels pretty slow overall. If I don't like something, then it's copying macos, gnome or android. Desktop is desktop, period. It's meant for work and multitasking. People with 12" notebooks may argue. But for these we have completely unnecessary top panel which basically displays notifications and clock? Really?

Windows 12 most likely will come out when Intel 15th gen and AMD 8000 CPUs are on the market. The reason why is they are the ones that will have the hardware to run windows 12. So late 2024 / early 2025 for earliest you can get a Windows 12 computer. I don't know Snapdragon well enough to tell you if can already run on their current SoC or will need the 2024 updated version to be able to run.

With how strict Microsoft has been with Windows 11, I would suspect there could be stricter requirements for Windows 12. @@PrograError enterprise users will pay for extended support if they need it otherwise they often just buy new computers with new version of Windows. Otherwise companies that already buy old hardware to run old OS for the particular software they still need. Most people just use the OS that came with the device and primarily only gets a new OS with a new computer (thereby lots of smaller companies and people that keep running unsupported Windows versions). If Microsoft cared for the computers that cannot officially support Windows 11 they wouldn't have put such strict requirements for Windows 11. I don't think the next version will have fewer requirements. At best Microsoft will just lower the requirements for Windows 11 instead of extending the support for Windows 10, if Microsoft cares for so many computers running unsupported Windows 10 by the time it no longer has support (presumably Windows 12 is out by that time).

Windows 11 looks like a cartoonish version of mac os but does not function like the typical window. The basic functionality of newer versions of windows functions like mac os instead of sticking to what made windows easy to use and understand like the older versions of windows. Alot of older versions of windows were done automatically after you done something and there were permissions that you enabled and it was easy to use and understand. Now windows 11 has turned into mac os where everything has to be done in a certain way manually and it takes multiple steps to do basic tasks since the basic tasks are hidden behind extra menus. I never understood how to use and navigate mac os from the very beginning since it's a learning curve. It took me awhile to figure out how to finally use mac os. With mac os, you have to do everything manually instead of things done automatically for you with options to choose from when you grant the permissions. For example, when you sideload a 3rd party app, you have to look for the 3rd party downloaded folders app and than drag and drop it. For windows, when you sideload a 3rd party app, a window would pop up with permissions and asked you where do you wanna save the app to without looking for a folder and than dragging and dropping the 3rd party app. To uninstall a 3rd party app on mac os, you have to do the steps in reverse order just when the 3rd party app is sideloaded. On windows, you just right click and select uninstall app. I tried to right click on mac os and I tried to do the same thing like windows and the 3rd party app still does not get uninstalled. It took me awhile that I had to figure out that I look for the folder where the 3rd party app was dragged and dropped and than drag and drop the 3rd party app to the recycle bin. Mac os should not have just done the basic right click option to uninstall and delete 3rd party apps that were sideloaded. With mac os there are permissions and windows there are permissions. Windows and android has some similarities when sideloading 3rd party apps and uninstalling and sideloaded apps. The 3rd party apps that I used for windows you have to pay, with android, you can get similar apps that you can sideload. For windows, there are free 7 day or 30 day trials. For android, you can just sideload the apps. I still sideload android apps all the time even with older versions of android since I still use the same apps that were no longer supported or removed from the google play store due to copyright of reasons. The only thing that I like about windows 11 is support for android apps. I'm still trying to figure out how to sideload the google play store on windows 11 instead of using the amazon app store. When I try to sideload the necessary google apps to enable and use the google play store on windows 11, they won't download and install. Nothing happens when I try to sideload any of the necessary google apps on windows 11. I just end up using alternate android app stores to sideload 3rd party apps. Like the modded version of youtube to bypass the ads and have the same features as the paid versions of youtube and I even have the modded version of spotify to bypass the ads on spotify.

It's gonna take a lot to make me want to go to windows 12 after the dumpster fire that 11 was and still is wrecked my machine. Absolute nightmare to deal with all the bugs and awful UI, tooltips were annoying in win10 but they make win11 literally unusable when they won't go away and block buttons I need.

Question: Contrary to phone updates, I feel like lots of people prefer not to upgrade to the next version of Windows. Why is that the case? Genuine question.
@linxu9763
@linxu9763 11 месяцев назад
I think it's generally because it's a completely different OS, as compared to phones (where you can just press 2 buttons and upgrades are fast) and what works works. I'm actually still on Windows 7.... (well, I'm about to upgrade off to Windows 10 LTSC 21H2) only because it still works fine and I have no need to upgrade - since Windows 7 does everything I need it to. Additionally, upgrading COULD mess up my projects, leading to valuable time that's wasted trying to fix it up. I'm not saying it will, but better safe than sorry.
@YogiTheBearMan

I think because they break too many things while phone updates are usually very stable. Plus PC os updates are boring but phones get more new features that people are hyped on. The hype might be just due to better marketing.
@Leuel48Fan
@Leuel48Fan 11 месяцев назад
Up until Windows 10, previous 'new' Windows versions were marketed as entirely separate products and sold as such. They had their own update life cycles (service packs, anniversary updates, etc...) also usually drastically increased minimum and recommended hardware specs so it made more sense for users to buy new PCs every other or so Windows generation (Eg XP to Vista). Starting from Win 10 tho, it does seem like they're headed towards rolling updates and treating it as one Windows, similar to Mac OS and Android/iOS, presumably to limit fragmentation. Ironically, Win 10 was supposed to be "the last version of Windows" but then Microsoft and OEMs realized they sell way more PCs when new major Windows versions get announced sooo they're in this middle boat of making updates seamless and fluid while marketing higher numbers it seems, Win 11, Win 12 etc...

And when even explorer crashes I see the icons from windows 95 And that's all, so basically windows 11 is windows 95 with just better UI lol

@@uusfiyeyh I'm not saying they should replace the NT core, just that it could use a huge upgrade. If large parts of it were rewritten it would have performance like linux but I don't expect them to do that. Also DOS was a large part of windows but they still replaced that.

Windows 11 is... a UI downgrade, at least for me. It is so dumbed down it lost quite a few features, while the under-the-hood areas stayed exactly the same, as in kernel and codebase. It's just a reskinned 10. If 12 will be again a minor tweak instead of offering a proper quality upgrade, it will be the end of Windows for me. I accept 10 just because it's stable now, with updates disabled. I hate how it treats the user without disabling every. single. annoying. "feature"., when it thinks it knows better what I want to do with my PC than I do. 11 is now ugly af. It looks like a mix of Android and MacOS ripoff. I think of switching to Plasma Arch in the future. I'm glad Valve made great tools for Linux gaming
