"Windows Activation" Trojan

This video shows a very simple trojan designed to scare the user into calling a scam service pretending to be a support hotline for Microsoft. Like many trojans of this type, the software itself is very crude; however, if it causes a victim to pay the scammers to "activate" Windows the scheme is an overall success.

+TheAppleBrit Well, I use the opensource youtube-dl commandline program. Recently I wanted to download a playlist with 120 videos or so in it. It finished in 10 minutes where passing each video's URL to a downloader website would take hours.

Thanks for suggesting MalwareBytes, because my antivirus (avast) didn't detect loads of programs I didn't want on my system, so I installed it and it detected over 300 PUPs and 2 Malware programs. Now my computer is running like the day I brought it, so thanks for using MalwareBytes in this video it has really helped me and I feel a lot safer on my PC now all the viruses are gone.

i removed one of those things that makes a thing that blocks desktop input and it just makes it seem like a thing that says "call [number here] to continue using windows" with no buttons or close button and when you close one it puts up more but it was hard and it did the same to safe mode and it took awhile to remove but just simply a Ubuntu installer allowed me to boot a pre-installed environment and found them and removed them

Looking back at this video after learning some Visual Studio in High School(C Sharp in particular) Couldn't they have cropped the Activate and Ask Me Later buttons and used the "PictureBox Click Event" instead of using a separate activate button to make it 1% more realistic

I've gotten something just like this (but I made malware bytes remove it) but it told me to type a key and gave me the scam 1-844 number. (When I scanned turns out I had over 100 Trojans and unwanted programs that are all by optional.pup... Never knew what it meant)

I actually got this with my supposed adware-free installment of DivX video codec shit, along with like 30 other things that installed in secret. Thankfully Malwarebytes and system restore fixed that shit up quick.

Hey RogueAmp, I beleive you can move windows by just right-clicking on the task in taskbar and selecting "move" from there. I'm not sure though, haven't used windows too much for years...

My friend had this on his laptop last week, along with 10-12 other trojans along with it. One of the trojans hid it self as mytrayapp.exe and it caused a fake BOSD. it had a bug in it where if i don't have a internet connection when i logged on, it crashes.

+Malware Exposed Why? if VB. Yo can decompile it into real code. It cant spread, no payloads, nothing. Its a model of the shit we used to pull in grade school. make a bat/exe that boots on start. Something that wont flag AV. It then (maybe) grants itself admin privileges. Its the free to launch anything it desires. Hell my sister is more devious and shes just a 14 yo tech punk. Ill give you a link i you want but yo wont learn anything. Its the definition of noobishness.
