excellent method and very easy

One important note: if you sign in to windows with a Microsoft account (i.e. PIN, Hello sign-in, etc.), you may not be able to sign in once you create a Hyper-V virtual machine with the resulting virtual disk, since Hyper-V will only allow signing in through a local account with remote desktop access permissions (perhaps an MS account would work if you disable the “Require Windows Hello” sign in option within windows user account sign in options).

I was hoping you would have mentioned what shadow copy is.

Thank you for the video, the method is very easy and clear to follow but I do have 2 errors when I try and start the the VM "Failed to open image 'C:\VM\MitsPLCs.VHD' for writing due to wrong permissions (VERR_VD_IMAGE_READ_ONLY). AHCI: Failed to attach drive to Port0 (VERR_VD_IMAGE_READ_ONLY)." I made sure that I didn't select the read only tick box when creating the VM. I've also checked the properties of the file 'C:\VM\MitsPLCs.VHD' and the tick box here for read only hasn't been ticked so I don't know what I've missed, can anyone shed some light on it, thanks. T

Thank you for explaining what disk2vhda.exe is (I thought it was for ARM; but, I didn't see any docs in the chm file, nor any explanation from uSoft) I don't know why these uSoft f..ks can't add the appropriate documentation (even just a text file with a file list and explanation). 12 year old software developers can do it... but a multi-decades old company can't. And, yes, this is a rant.

Could you consider making a tutorial disk2vhd over smb3 failover cluster? saving image in a network folder
