Side note: If u have enabled steam opening automatic to the background, exit it before installing HC. If you don’t so, it will break because of steam’s controller drivers.
@@GameTechPlanet Also want to switch from SWICD, especially because I heard this one has gyro outside of Steam? (can you confirm and possibly put that on the list of showing stuff in later videos?) Also, 2 things that I use in SWICD and didn't see in this video. I want to know if I can still do this: 1. Custom button combinations that trigger keybinds, like Steam+Right Bumper = Win+PrintScreen, Steam+X=Ctrl+Win+O (Keyboard), a combination for lizard mode, not just a single button in case I want that back button for something else, and some other stuff. You get the gist. 2. Custom individual profiles depending on the game that is launched. Sometimes Joystick presses are really important and I much prefer 2 of the back buttons to be joystick press, but only in some games, in others I would like them to be ABXY. Also I'm assuming Trackpad press could be a button, sometimes I like to have right trackpad press = Select button to open up a map or inventory in a game while still keeping my left thumb on the movement joystick. Having all this setup in SWICD and with it working great, you can imagine why I'm hesitant so that's why I want to know. I am thinking about the gyro though... That would be a great addition. Could you be playing High on life with gyro?
Do you like that you are able to tinker and slightly improve and personalize the Deck or would you have prefered a closed of system like Iphone or Nintendo Switch?
Thx for video, but unfortunately it worst controller software that I tested on Win 10 Steam Deck. 1. Mouse bindings on trackpads are works buggy in games and instead of moving the mouse in games, the cursor throws in different directions (I tried all mouse settings and sensitives, and nothing helped). 2. «Desktop layout» doesn’t work at all in Win 10 and it doesn't matter what buttons you bind there. 3. Binded keys in profiles can be unbind by themselves and you have to go in profile layout settings and assign everything again. 4. The interface looks modern, but completely ill-conceived and after Steam OS in Gaming Mode, it's not convenient at all. 5. What means «Performance / Balance / Efficiency power mode» in quick tool window? What does software change at this point? The only thing that works well and distinguishes this software from the other is «on the go» settings change in quick tool window and hotkeys bindings. But in my opinion in such software, the most important thing is controller setup and SWICD copes with this much better, although it does not have such a good design and such cool features. But in SWICD I have not encountered a single bug during the entire time of use. I decided to try an alternative to SWICD, but I couldn't come to terms with the bugs in Handheld Companion software.
That’s unfortunate that was your experience. Respect the comment and sharing. I’ve mostly been on windows 11 and have not experienced any of those issues fortunately and HC continues to he my easiest best way to emulate controllers especially when a ds4 controller is needed for ps remote play or cloud. As far as trackpad issues what you describe spunds like your not using lizard mode in and off. I have those bound to the back buttons so i can turn that in and off at will so no mouse inputs in game just controller.
I downloaded it and went through the setup and reset my deck but when I launch it it just pops up the logo big in the middle of my screen then after a few seconds disappears and does nothing do you know how to fix
Soinds like u have not detup lizard mode on and off. The new update calls it desktop mode. Set that to toggle on and off with one of ur back buttons. Works perfectly
I'm not having a very good time with this. It constantly crashes, the FPS limit doesn't stay when I close it. Great UI but I think I'll stick with Steam Deck Tools going forward.
Hello, i just successfully installed the app but i got this problems say, No virtual controller connected and Neptune controller is hidden. Please help me to fix this. I wanna use the app for ps remote play
Activate lizard mode if u need it on. I go over that part in the video. I have hotkeys set to turn my lizard mode on and off as needed with the back paddles
Awesome thanks and welcome to GTP. Windows on deck keeps improving and for me HC has the best controller emulation especially for cloud and remote play.
Not fan control integration just yet but my understanding is its being worked on. This just got released and I am sure from the hard work I have seen that things will only get better from here.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU YOU HAVE BEEN VERY VERY HELPFUL May I ask why I don't see the option to enable trachpas as if it were the mouse on my program (I use Windows 10) Looking forward to your reply thank you very much again and beautiful video you helped me so much :)))
Frankly, it's shit. SD needs something more robust like the SD Tools and perhaps some more talented people unlike myself can then build on top of the source of SDTools to create a better user experience. HC has way too many ifs and buts that you keep on discovering as you go and I fucking had to do a fresh windows install because it won't allow me to completely uninstall its services which go deep into the registry. Should've created a restore point or reg backup. Been a pain so far.
I installed HC but when I start a game the controls and buttons do not work. I turn off Steam and still nothing. SWICD worked immediately. Why won't HC work? What am I missing?
Hi guys, i cannot get this app to launch, downloaded offline and online versions, exit steam before installing/launching application, i click on it, the HC screen comes up then disappears with nothing....please help.
My problem with this over the steam deck tools is that you can't use the left track pad as a mouse, and you can't use the track pad presses as mouse clicks. Additionally, on many windows menus the triggers used for left clicks also act as "scrolling down" and so you end up moving things around accidentally a lot of times.
the scroll thing is because you have both mouse + keyboard inputs and gamepad inputs active at the same time. lizard mode in this disables one when enabling the other, that shouldn't happen
Is there a way to use the back paddles of the steam deck with this Controller options, bc i cound nit find it and thats the only thing from holding me back from this app
i've installed it and it doesn't work well, the B button is working like ESC and the Steam button brings up another menu + the GameChanger menu which is not so much annoying btw, But the B button, and also the R2 & L2 buttons are doing the scroll!!! is there any solution for it?
Honest question: has there been any report of this use causing users to be banned from playing Destiny 2? It’s the only game I’d be playing with Windows on Deck and want to make sure that I won’t get banned for life!
I cannot open the app! When I first install it everything works. Once I close out of the app it’ll work in the background but I won’t be able to open it! I’ve reinstalled several times and the same thing happens every time!
I messed with it but I still prefer Steam-Deck-Tools because of a list of little qol reasons. Major is being that if I have steam open and ever touch the steam key it opens big picture no matter what settings i take into steam or into HC.
I installed this and I’m having trouble setting hot keys. It won’t let me set a hot key to any of the lizard modes….. any help as to why would be awesome
I keep have problems playing fortnight with this ( yeah I know it's a terrible game but oh well ) the B button brings up menu and build not sure if there is a work round
How has no youtuber make a video on steam deck tools? Thats the standard software for windows on deck. Gives you controller support, fan controls, tdp controls, refresh rate controls.. The works
SDT is awesome. I'm surprised no one has made a video on it yet tbh. I'm using HC it made me finally commit to go full windows on the deck. It's the cleanest controller software imo. Just need to add fan control and it does everything SDT does.
@@IMIute yeah same here but having a bunch of issues with HC that I did not had with SDT. I wish STD could have that nice GUI then it would be a no brainer for me
@@IMIute mutey? it's cool seeing the people from discords im on in other places. I've been secretly reading all the messages on discord waiting for you guys to keep fixing hc.
My worry with steam deck tools is getting flagged/banned with anti-cheat softwares which were the reason i bothered to put windows on the steamdeck in the first place
Does anyone else have the problem of opening it but then it just doesn’t do anything after the hc logo and just goes back to the screen? Please help me
Yeah steamos just lost all my interest with all these great options for windows, I do have windows 10 instead of 11 on my steam deck because I get a bit more fps with 10.
hey man, how can I get access to more resolutions on steam deck windows 11, I have a fresh install of window and only give me the option of getting 1280x800
I can't seem to get it to work with running games via Xbox App (not stream)... I've restarted the deck. Steam is closed. HC open, Lizard mode on for both mouse and buttons. Launch a game and getting double button presses.
Hey sorry to hear your having trouble. Ive not had this issue woth any of the apps so far so I may not be much help. Please go to link in description and join HC’s discord as you can ask questions directly to them there. I will alwaya help where i can tho
same here, I don't understand how it works so well in that video. It's not working at all for me. When I press the button in the GUI it minimizes the game for example. That's weird. I might have to re-install windows entirely and start from scratch as I tried a bunch of different other solution already that might conflict each other even uninstalled
@@GotchaPine007 I finally got it working... I previously had SWICD, uninstalled that for Steam Deck Tools. I guess Steam Deck Tools didn't uninstall correctly before I installed HC. I removed HC, Removed HidHide, removed VIG driver. I then re-installed Steam Deck Tools... Then did an uninstall. Rebooted and reinstalled HC and it worked correctly. Unfortunately, I removed HC in favor of Steam Deck Tools... because it doesn't work as well for me when playing World of Warcraft. You can't just use the trackpads for the in-game mouse which is pretty necessary.
I'm having issues with the controls I bf2042 the character looks up and down instead of moving forward and fifa 22 the b button to shoot pauses the game is there anything I needed to do to make the steam deck recognise the controls as an xbox controller?
Great Video!. One Issue that I encountered is, when I set the refresh rate to 40hz, the touch screen seems to become unresponsive and can't be used, does this happen to you too? If yes, have you found a fix for that? Thanks!
Does anyone know if it's possible to have gyro and flick stick running Windows on the deck with stuff like Game Pass? I just can't stand traditional shooter controls anymore lol
Earned a sub. I see your dual boot video in the recommended too. I was debating on not bothering and getting a laptop for gamepass stuff... but I think this is probably worth it now!
@@TremereTT you can get gray keys for windows dirt cheap. I have bought keys from semi-sketchy sites like that the past like 5 years getting into PC and all my computers are fine haha. Fuck paying $110 or whatever for that!
When I click start service, It button flickers then shows back up and says start service. I'm so frustrated because I followed the tutorial exactly as you showed it.
Question, when I press "X" on the steam deck controls a small blue keyboard appears, it goes away when I press "B". This happens even when I turn off lizard mode for both the mouse and keyboard. Anyone has any solutions to this so that I can fully use the steamdeck buttons?
Great video. I’m having a slight issue in cloud gaming. My right stick is also moving the mouse cursor at the same time as controlling the game. Can anyone help at all?
I use Steam Deck Tools as well. It's been surprisingly smooth. Using Playnite as my front end for games and having steam deck tools start at startup seems to work pretty amazingly. I also bound the f11 to my back buttons since it's needed in a couple emulators to be able to exit the game. I'm going to keep an eye on this, though, since I like the look of the ui quite a bit.
I figured that out. It is simply controlling with trackpad and emulating mouse left/right clicks when steam is disabled. And lizard mode is just for toggling this from/to Gamepad mode.
i also would like to know this i did uninstall the vigem bus driver along with SWICD but now when i try to run game pass game i get controller disconnected
It does one thing HC doesn't. Fan control. All these devs support one another. They don't compete with eachother. I suggest everyone use whatever they prefer at the end of the day. To me HC is the best but that doesn't mean SDT is bad. They both are amazing.
