This video shows how some of the Windows screensavers have evolved from Windows 95 up to the present era. Note that not all screensavers are included (such as the Active Desktop ones), however the most iconic ones such as 3D FlowerBox are in this video!

Fun fact: 3D Text (XP) is the oldest Windows screensaver that is still used today.

My 4 favourite screensavers are flying windows from 9x, Aurora from vista, Mystify from windows 7 and Energy from vista also

The video I have been waiting for a long time and yeah, I like all screensavers even though I didn't get the chance to try windows oses before windows xp, personally, bubble is my favorite. It's no surprise that they're working on windows 10 and 11.

4:10 a similar screen saver was used on MacOS computers, except all the "ribbons" were connected to one point. the screen saver was called *flurry*.

IMO i think Vista had the most radical change in the history of Windows. Even Windows 11 has remnants from Vista.

May you explain how Windows 11 has remnants from vista? I don't see anything other then that glitch that shows Windows vista theme (non areo) for a second. And honestly. We need to go back to making detailed stuff like vista/7 because now everything just looks flat and void of life.

@@American_Mappin Just open Windows Explorer, Task-Manager, Control Panel, all the Administrative stuff etc. It's all from Vista, just reskinned to look "modern".

They will not, cause today’s screen is more modern than before. So bringing screensaver again is meaningless.

@@muhammaddevandra9983 I don't think so. Linux and Mac OS still receive new screensavers. Many features abandoned by Microsoft have large potential with modern technologies.

I have to say I liked using the ball joints on the pipes screensaver, every so often a teapot would show up in place of the ball joint.

Now here's the kicker: These screensavers work on windows 10 or 11 (if you upgraded to Windows 11) And I tested them and a LOT of them work. for those who prefer 3d maze which works fine but it duplicates the ceiling texture onto the wall. Making the screensaver's rendering partially work. But the movements work fine and the rotation is also fine. Same goes to the items that spin. I Tested windows XP default screensaver has no logo. Just a black screen and that's it. Maybe the logo is deleted.

The best generation is as expected Windows Vista's. Microsoft did a magnificient job on aesthetics during those good years. Then everything went downhill after it up to the lame decadency we're living today.

Because screensavers were intended to prevent burn-in for CRT monitors. For LCD monitors, turn off the display instead.

I remember being really disappointed with the Vista screensavers, they were such a downgrade from the XP ones. There's only like three you can customise on Vista, a lot of them look the same and there;s some cool ones like Energy and the legendary Bubbles, but the 3D Flying Objects beats them all
