Workarounds to install Windows XP on modern hardware is a very neat trick to have a super fast Windows XP experience in 2023 and beyond.

A valiant effort sir. I’m actually surprised that you got as far as you did. You might want to try investigating Windows Server 2003 and Windows Embedded drivers, because they were supported for a lot longer and WinXP x64 was built from the Server 2003 kernel, because the x64 architecture obviously hit the server market before it reached mainstream adoption. You also might have better luck with desktop hardware, because there is still a bunch of XP based systems used in manufacturing, and there’s a chance that a newer chipset might’ve gotten support for an older OS because a ton of machines that cost $250K to $1M were using WinXP and they might’ve needed replacement parts that were compatible.

my acer laptop supprts xp but might have a few missing drivers, it was made in October 2012

its a shame these old OS are such a hassle, even win 7 is difficult to install. i would love to use it if possible, go back to simpler times

Why do people keep sayinf that Windows XP won't boot from USB? It does work 100%. I have done it 100s of times working with older computers.

You got really far. I am curious why you chose to use Windows XP x64 though - almost nobody used it, unlike modern 64-bit windows it didn't have any ability to run 32-bit applications (so, almost all software at the time), and it had few drivers available and poor stability. If you try again with 32-bit XP you might get better results

Maybe 32-bit version works better, since that one was more commonly used.

Check in the BIOS if you can enable Legacy USB mode and it should work

- Rufus will make XP boot from USB. Just sayin'. - BIOS has to be in Legacy mode. If yours has it. - SATA has to be in IDE mode. It can do AHCI with some tweaking, but not really worth the effort, just stick with IDE. - XP natively supports up to 4th generation CPUs (i7-4960X being the latest). Anything later is hit and miss. If you'll remember, 4th-gen LGA2011 boards were the last to include things such as PCI slots, SATA-2 ports, and similar aging stuff. After experimenting with "modern" hardware, I decided to stick within a given OS's native support range. As mentioned, XP on an i7-4960X, then Win98 on a P4-3.8GHz 2M 775 board, Win7 on 9th-gen hardware (tested on i9-9920X) and similar constraints. Turns out it wasn't really worth the effort to force-feed an OS onto hardware it doesn't support. If you have drivers for things, great, but if not....Like sex, it's too much work, WAY too high a risk, and with very little payoff.

Windows XP doesn’t have built-in support for newer hardware so you’ll be left with an unbootable Windows installation or with non functional or missing drivers.

Not as difficult to get WinXP running on a 2009 Core 2 Duo HP (only need modded sata drivers and everything else including pnp works) , it's only a nightmare for the new UEFI devices

You could have just used XP Integral Edition, 32 bit tough.
