I like that XP runs on anything from an old Pentium I (at a push) to a modern 4GHz AMD etc... I've personally used it on everything from a 333MHz Pentium II (in actual "real" use, upgraded with 512MB of RAM, a 40GB HDD, a 32MB Riva TNT Ultra and a Sound Blaster Live!) to a Core i3 with 4GB of RAM (onboard graphics and sound)
i like that floppy drive sound when posting before it beeps, have heard that on old PCs with that phoenix bios like on my intel ws440bx gateway oem motherboard
Install windows 10 32 bit csm on ssd get adapter sata to ide plug it ready installed to pentium 2 let’s see that should do 128-256mb ram 233mhz if u can ! That would be interesting !
When you clicked on "my computer" the CPU was barely doing anything and the hard drive was cranking like crazy You should get an SSD or defrag that thing!!
Pentium 1 is trying hard to run windows xp and is proud that he does it after minutes off heavy work... windows xp: "your computer might be at risk you should upgrade to a more modern os." Pentium 1 LMAO
I think newer filesystems are slower on old systems. like ext4/3 When i am formatting the drive, there were 2 options "FAT format" and "FAT format (quick)". No NTFS
I once tried XP on a Toshiba Tecra 720CDT Pentium 133 laptop with 144MB ram and 6GB hard drive. It was so slow I could'nt do much other than load the desktop. Even old games from it's era ran too slow to be fun. No real cpu power leftover to run anything.
i think i have a nicer xp machine, as it has a newer celeron, (idk what speed), but it does have a video card, which is surprising for a computer from 2003.
Personally, I've never run XP on anything lower than P4. My P3 ran 98 and 2000 Pro just fine. I've seen it run on P2-class computers with as little as 64MB of memory, although not very pleasant. PCem may be a way to test this out :) - Although I'd much rather see it run on acutal hardware.
Windows 8 and 10 requires SSE2 and the NX Bit technology For example i have a Pentium 4 3ghz(socket 478)(northwood i think) PC and i can't boot 8.1 or 10 because the cpu and the motherboard doesn't have the NX Bit technology This PC can support Windows 7 or older You need at least a Pentium 4 HT with NX Bit technology
