Windows95Man, No Rules, Reaction. Representing Finland at Eurovision 2024. I give my commentary, critique and all important Big Lew Score. I do not own the song. Purely used for review purposes.
We have a long history of sending song other countries might think are odd, and usually the few times we've actually tried to please the juries, we've ended not qualifying or at zero points. Nowadays, we just pick what we like, and if someone else likes it, we might do well at the ESC - but if not, at least we always bring a good show. This song probably would have gone through before Käärijä, so that has no impact. This is the kind of performance we genuinely like here, and of the seven performances we had to choose from, this was the most authentic, energetic and entertaining. I didn't actually vite for this, but I almost fid, and I'm super happy to see it won.
Yes, I've been loving your UMK in recent years, the quality has really improved and I admire voting with bravery. Eurovision would be boring with everyone choosing safe entries.
No, Käärijä had nothing to do with this win. Finland is a country of memes, as someone earlier said. This would've done great before Käärijä, so why not after too?
The favourite going into the UMK final was a Loreen copy. It would have been a huge mistake sending her for several reasons, at least if Finland wanted to actually qualify for the grand final. They also styled Sara completely wrong. Beige (Loreen's colours) was the last thing she should have been wearing. If they wanted people to vote for Sara they should have styled her as different from Loreen as possible.
Only Finnish people think she was a Loreen copy. I wonder why? And by The way, Window95 might actually not go to Malmö, so it could be that it's Sara after all
@@annalyon2729 I'm not Finnish. So it's definitely not just Finnish people. The way I interpreted Win95man's answer (through a translation since I don't speak Finnish) was that he hopes that the EBU will do the right thing (lol, they won't), but that he's still going to Malmö. I would think that if he's not going he would have said so by now? The artists that didn't want to go to Malmö said so before the UMK final. And I would assume that Yle has asked Win95man by now if he wants to go. They need all the time they can get to prepare. So that swap should have happened the day after the UMK final at the latest.
@@nian60 As I understand it, they started to hesitate after UMK final, becauce Henri especially is reluctant to participate If Israel is there also. And so they told in an interview that they are now hesitating about going. To which they were told that they have this week to decide.
@@annalyon2729 Ah, interesting, thanks. Since I don't speak Finnish I have missed that. In Henri's case he apparently didn't want to do it at all from the start.
I think it's very different from Loreen's song. It's more emotional and a darker feel, I agree the clothing and colours are similar though, and it's a jury friendly song, but I think it has a sound eastern European countries would really like.
100% agree that the juries should not decide the winner, especially not since juries are easily bribed (as we saw last year). Out of the 7 choices Finland had, this was the best choice if they want to qualify for the final. There was an 8th song with Käärijä and Erika Vikman that could arguably have done even better. But that song was not competing.
I don't think that Finnish people thought, that we should send this, because it might please Europe. We chose it, because WE liked it. I supported this one from the beginning, but after the videos we all expected, that Sara Siipola would win. However, it seems after seeing the live performances many people changed their mind. Many artists, who had impressed in the videos, didn't do as well live. But this one exceeded the expectations.
Well I think it's a good choice and I can see it finishing in the top 10. The quality of UMK has been amazing in recent years, you are bound to win Eurovision again soon.
Well, this was not my choise, and I didn’t vote for this. Although this song truly had a memorable live show. But I don’t have great expectations for success in ESC this year. This song and show are made just for people to have fun. No more, no less.
