I'm assuming the existing roadbed was leftover from coal mining activity or something similar? Same with the telephone pole? Love seeing this stuff.

You assume correctly. Most are from Timber Cutting that happened years ago. These particular trails are going to be challenging especially Trail 20. You can find the bottom of Trail 20 riding out Trail 88. The top of Trail 20 comes out on Trail 60.

i don't know about other people, but i always look at the topo map and try to drive from the bottom up. id rather have to climb steep obstacles then drop off of them

1)is there a scheduled release date for the new map every year, or just on as needed bases ? 2) is there a list of newly added trails anywhere for us to see every time we go to windrock ? 3) is this a fullsize vehicle trail for everyone or just atv/sxs/bike ? it will be cool to check out new trails, thank you for the utube entertainment and all of the hard work you all do! it would be really cool if there is a list of trails that you have added throughout the year

They have an app but they charge money for the trail maps. 😂 would be nice if it was free they already charge admission

Answers: 1). We normally do a map update in the last quarter of the year. That will be the case this year 2). The Map is the only list we publish and keep updated. So no there is not a list of newly added trails 3). These Trails are Multi Use which means all vehicles are able to use them

@@drew4769 yes they do. But nobody else will let us wheel on their property, much less 73,000 acres of trails. And I’m sure who ever made the app wants to get paid, I doubt windrock made the app and the people that did probably won’t do it for free. Besides, you don’t HAVE to have the app to enjoy some trails…

I’m very interested in the process of identifying the rating of a trail, what kinds of things do y’all look for? I always kind of figured it had something to do with risk factory, and not only the difficulty but the number of difficult obstacles, seems like a lot of the single blacks will just have one nasty spot while the double blacks will have multiple, and are the rated based on very capable machines or less capable?

We have a process for evaluating Trail Difficulty Ratings. I think it would make a good video for me to do. I will post a video about it soon on the channel. Thanks for the comment. Ron

It would be cool if there was a recommended running direction on the windrock app, map, and signs for the trails.

There is topo line. You can use those to decide if you want to run the trail up hill or down hill. It seems like this guy likes running the trails down hill, but I would rather climb up. I am SO, grateful they don’t tell us what direction to run, Because then people would get butt hurt if I ran the trail in a different direction then they do (like if I just wanted to cut through a trail to get back home, if there is a tree down, or an impassable obstacle)

@@MrMrsregor That is a good point about people getting upset. I also prefer to run trails upwards but having the option to go either way is nice.

@@holden8239 yea, I like the challenge of climbing up obstacles, dropping down can get sketchy feeling quickly.. you can also get an idea about how steep the trail is, just look to see how close together the topo lines are.
