I used a test light and figured out the switch in my truck was bad. Apparently a common problem on my truck. Just put a push button switch on the dash and ran some wires behind the dash to the battery and pump. Works good now. Fuse was good. I'm just to cheap to put a new proper switch set up on, the truck is 25 yrs old so I don't mind
Test the relay for the motor first (I have a how to video on this) if not it you might need to get a diagram and figure out where non stop power is being supplied to the motor. I am not good at electrical diagnosis but if I had to guess I would say its a relay problem or the switch itself, if you can open up the steering column and disconnect the connector for the switch and see if it stops. GL
Turned out my fuses and pump were fine. The problem was with the hoses. They were clogged and broke in half when I tried to clean them. Hopefully, replacing the hoses wont be too bad.
Can you please make a video about the windshield washer fluid not coming out of the rear of a 2008 Saturn VUE. Wiper is working fine, just the fluid not coming out. Thank you.
I changed nozzles, checked the lines “from both nozzles” and the T also and elbow. And all clear. Could it be the pump? I havent check the last line which is the one that goes to the resoiver
Thanks for the video man! Just got a 2001 Nissan Sentra with a worn exterior but a sparkling engine compartment. I was bummed to find out that the windshield washer isn't working right. I'm going to follow your process but I have a question about removing the pump if it is bad. Can you remove the pump through the headlight cavity or would I need to jack up the car to get the pump out?
Do some cars have a separate fluid pump for front and rear washer nozzles or is it always the same pump that makes both front and rear work? Thanks for the video. It will surely help me diagnose the issue with my car.
Hello mate. I to have a problem with my windshield washer. First the pump was bad. I bought a new pump but still it doesn't sound anything. Its like no current is getting to the pump. Gonna bye a test instrument and try the way you did on the video. If that doesn't work. Can it be a cutted wire or something. Anyways, thanks for the video and have a great day.
just a comment: it would be more direct to test for voltage between the two plates of the connector instead of checking each one vs. the battery. also it is good to check the pump for continuity. I just checked mine and discovered the pump does not need replacement. it's sth else. a burnt pump will show no continuity - infinite resistance showing as 1. on my multimeter.
Ratchets And Wrenches owesome video sir I Can't thank you enough it is very detail and explain everything you explain everything in great detail thank you so much.
The wiper on my rear window is working properly, but in the front it stopped working. Can it be the fuse or is it the same fuse for front and rear window wiper?
Is the washer fluid reservoir hose in any way connected to the Air Conditioning drain hose? I am having the leak into the cabin issue after driving for a while but my washer fluid is also all gone shortly after filling.
the car im working on has power full time and must switch on earth all fuses good power to plug but no earth with this setup i cant just give it earth because it would go non stop any advice?
Great video. Today I verified that the pump is OK, because it worked when connected directly to the battery. Ground was good at the pump connector. But the positive side of the pump connector ALWAYS showed 12 volts on a meter with the other end connected to the positive battery terminal. You'd think the pump would run continuously, but it doesn't run at all. Any ideas?
Lincoln Town Car 2005 I tried it, no sound from the motor, replaced the motor still no sound. Pipes not clogged. Fuses seem ok although I can't locate a separate fuse for motor and assume it's tied to wipers. Now what ...someone suggested relay and that's modular and would mean replacing the wiper motor. Not a small job. Any other suggestions?
HELP!!!! You (yes i am.... there is fluid in the reserve,,, i changed the pump CHECKED FUSES(all good) and can hear the motor loud and clear, but it wont come out...i followed the lines from the pump to the windshield and they look bone dry as if the fluid never even ATTEMPTED to come out? the lines dont appear to be clogged (well the clear tubed ones that i can see through) , i even removed the jets then tried and still NOTHING!! what do i DO!!! im beyond pissed
Ok so I'm getting water out of the little spray jet and the other doesn't work. But the pump engages and does have full fluid Idk maybe shortage on power ?
Mr. Ratchets and Wrenches I have replaced the washer pump on my 06 cts and it still doesn't work checked the fuses and non are blown looks like its not getting any power any suggestions thanks in advanced
hmm, if its not getting power and all fuses and connections are good you will need a wiring diagram to check for continuity of the wires going to it.. also its a good idea to check for power at the switch itself making sure it gets power and it supplies power when you turn it on for the wipers. Hope that helped gl
Switch was bad in my truck, or bad wire. I just put in a new switch although I have to turn the wipers on manually I don't mind cause it was a free fix cause I had the wire and switch and it only took an hour or so
