To see it happening is seeing that God is at work. Having Jesus in your life, makes this life easy to understand what is going on. The Lord will return on day, and it could be soon. Social Media, Commercial and News is a way to manipulate the opinion of the audience and guide it to individual interests. Podcast and RU-vid channels as yours help us look and listen to different opinions of things without having an intermediate interest that is not the share of ideas. I listen to you and other RU-vidrs because I think it is genuine without any interest that is not that of creating life styles away from what we all know as a society manipulated and controlled. I'm 73 years old and I haven't watched or listened to the main media since 1995! Back in the day it was half truths and today it appears 'out right lies', I realized from hearing from those who DO listen to the main media. It's a somewhat lonely place to be, here in NYC but truth is truth.

One of the things I've found helpful over the last year's worth of videos is explaining how long these trees live. Living on the west coast the Sequoia's live much much longer. From what you have said, I think many of your trees live 75 to 100 years and then die. As such, you are harvesting trees that are to "die" or fall down soon. As such, the trees are essentially getting their full life and then you are putting them to a post life use. It seems a good way to manage a resource. On a separate note, my father in law has a cabin the mountains. For at the least the past decade, all of his firewood has come from tress that have blown over in windstorms on his property. Seems to be another good use for a downed tree if there are no planned building uses for the wood.

I personally have been following this storm since 2015. Your correct on information. Although what they have done can not ever be reversed. Their biggest loss is the trust of Humanity. They will never get it back. Take care.

I believe you are a fellow seeker of truth, and I hope your search for good sources of less-biased news is fruitful. I have found myself needing to refresh my bs scouting skills by re-reading some of my old college Logic 101 textbooks. Logical fallacies have taken the place of news in most markets, turning them into useless propaganda. Unvarnished truth gets harder to find every day, but, IMHO, some of the non-commercial media are doing a little better than others.

Your suggestion of podcasts is good counsel. I would also listen to multiple sources to get a consensus of thought. What is terrifying to me is that people won't believe something unless they see it on mainstream TV. So much of the population is under a form of mass hypnosis.

I retired late 2018. Got a new roof and they took down the satellite so I decided to save money and no longer watch TV either. I just started watching you tube on my phone and discovered how interesting Shawn James channels are. Got Wi-Fi in December an now watch Amazon prime, you tube and IMDb TV. My self reliance is my favorite channel and I went back and watched by year so I saw all the videos and became a big fan of Shawn’s work ethic, abilities and Sweet cute Cali. Beautiful family who all deserve to live this life style. Shawn look forward to seeing the progress on your new homestead and the great changes to improving your self reliance.

I liked your message about gathering information. I still look at the news but from every large US network as well as NPR. I don't waste my time or energy on local broadcasts or Fox News.

I sooooo agree with your views on going to credible podcasts by hosts who are themselves credible and knowledgeable and/or have guests who are both. Finding them has become my challenge and then finding something to do with my hands while I listen.

I really like your idea of using the angle iron sections where log meets window and door frame. It allows for movement, but keeps things aligned. People, at times, don't realize just how much is involved with building a cabin with permanence in mind. You have spent a lot of time in planning, way before any building occurred. Shawn, yes, this is unprecedented weather. I live in western Massachusetts USA. We generally don't see the ground from Thanksgiving to Spring. This year however, we have had 1 snow of 2 1/2 inches which was gone 2 days later. We were supposed to have 1 to 3 inches snow yesterday but it went from freezing rain to rain as the day warmed. This is 1 week before Christmas. We have had only half of our usual monthly rainfall in both November and this month so far. I worry about the trees, the perennial garden, and of course all of the issues around global warming. Thank you for your videos.

I agree with you about finding actual experts for whatever subject interests you. Can be tough to filter out all the nonsense and find those without biasing agendas. Every time an unusual weather period happens, lots of people jump on some bandwagon or another to explain why it happened, often forgetting that unusual doesn't mean unprecedented. Totally agree with your comments at the end of this video. There are some very good sources available for facts and truths on several of the podcasts. I referenced only one to you ( Catherine Austin Fitts ), but there are sufficient resources available on the net to keep us all up to date with reality. POD cast are great as long as they are not stuck to one side, when they give facts and let you decide what you think, and interview all sources/experts, it is very useful.

You are spot on about censorship and MSM. I haven't watched mainstream news since my mum passed away back in may. I have been much happier as a result. Especially in this messed up unrecognisable world we now live in.

Y-Tube is no longer a free communication space. Shawn seems to know the reality well, and I think Canada and US are the same. So that's why I'm saying, it would be okay to open a separate Rumble channel where there is no censorship of conversation.....

The most truthful information is from your mom, then others face to face, then watching people do, then teachers. Anything else I question the agenda (too often it's selling crap or crazy). Ads on RU-vid are 100 times less believable.

I gave up watching television a few years back. Too much advertisement was the deciding factor. But now there are better reasons. You're right. Big Brother is always listening. I think it is interesting how it has spawned a lot of code-talking. And so many people have gotten good at discerning the lies and manipulation. I only hope that there is something left of this world worth salvaging. I'm starting to see my grandsons as pioneers in the world to come. I pray their challenges are not too demanding.

Green Christmas in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for sure. It hasn't been consistently cold enough for the ground to freeze yet! The last winter I remember being mild was in 2001. I was visiting in Montreal and I was able to walk around with hat and gloves on, and there was no snow - that was on December 7, 2001. I flew back home a few days later and it was a little colder here but still mild for this time of year. This year - I've been working outside continuing garden clean-up, which is unprecedented this time of year normally. On a couple of days, I worked without a coat, hat or gloves on! Yesterday and today I've been cleaning up from the windstorm we had over 2 days earlier this week. I have 2 pine trees on my lot and they shed tons of pine cones, some as small as a thumbnail, and tons of tiny little branches and a few larger branches. I've been getting my work-out endlessly raking and bagging, raking and bagging. I am nearly finished out front and on the side yards. If the weather is dry tomorrow, I'll start cleaning up the backyard, again! This has been a year where the "gales of November" have continued into December. As for getting "truthful and update to information" out of podcasts, just remember that Alex Jones had a podcast that claimed children and teachers killed in the Sandy Hook massacre were still alive, and podcasts hosted by people like Steve Bannon, a convicted felon. Yeah. Some advice - stay away, far far away, from making statements like "listen to podcasts" to get "uncensored" and truthful information.

I watch all episodes you put up and enjoy the progress your making on your new cabin. I also agree completely about the “fake” news. Haven’t watched it for more then three years and much of all cable as far as that goes. Keep Cali and yourself safe and have a great Christmas.

When you showed the hung up tree that had fallen I was reminded of one I had hung up. Was from a bad cut due to poor aiming. Well I had felt a heavy thump the other night and sure enough it had come down without any collateral damage. The winds were not that heavy only 15-20 but the heavy wet snow helped it down. Very true concerning today's media. I stopped watching/reading Swedish mainstream media years ago - first for quality reasons, then more and more because of bias. If you can find a channel/podcast that is equally critical of the loony right, the loony left and the corrupt part of the centre, then you're on the right track. I would highly recommend Sam Harris. Very knowledgeable, highly intelligent, great guests, always about facts. Keep it up!

It’s hard deciphering what is up to date and what is accurate information and who to listen to. There is so much out there that contradict each other. So called experts are a dime a dozen it seems these days. It’s a scary world we live in currently. I thank you for your video’s they are inspiring. Thinking this is the first video where Cali is not running around retrieving a bright boat bumper or frolicking around in the water. 😉 Couldn't agree more on your thoughts on podcasts, we have access to 120 TV channels and watch an hour day, PBS news. 34 years ago at the police academy they taught us a valuable lesson, "Question half of what you see and all of what you hear."
