Every time I've landed at Las Vegas it's been very turbulent, which I enjoy but many passengers don't. Phoenix is another notoriously turbulent area. The approach to the old airport in Austin was usually very bumpy due to the high hills on the west side of the city, which provided a lot of uneven uplift. Once the airport was moved, the approaches haven't typically been turbulent since you approach on just gently rolling terrain. I preferred the bumpier approaches over the hills.
I think it has to do with landing in valleys surrounded by high mountains. Salt Lake City is another where it's always been turbulent for me. I've also been on very turbulent flights in and out of Denver. I do NOT enjoy it! I also had a couple of terrible lights involving Austin. One was so bad nobody could even get up (including flight attendants) for the entire trip from Nashville to Austin.
I fly two or three times per month. As of right now, because of the pandemic, in one or two day trips. I used to take longer trips, but I'm trying to sleep at home as much as possible right now. It ends up being between 3 and 6 days per month. I usually am traveling solely to get footage for this channel, so I end up with 4 or more segments per day. Which is how I can have daily uploads when only flying 6 days per month.
Always a fun & bumpy approach into Las Vegas. The winds foiling over the mountains like air passing over a wing along with the warm rising air creates for a fun landing.
@@sla31 It's interesting you say so. I watch another aviation user on a regular basis, and he also believes Delta and Southwest handle COVID-19 the best.
