Absolutely 💯 I work in fitness and performing arts, and I enjoy physical activity for the fun of it, and I also live on a mini farm, but I do not think about “exercise.” I am not motivated to tone up, lose weight, build muscle, etc, but I do enjoy dancing, farm work, powerlifting and trail running as a fun activity. But when let’s say, a lifting or running session starts to get redundant and not fun anymore, I simply stop and move on to something else. I do NOT “discipline” myself to keep lifting to get “ripped” or to “prove that I am tough.” When I was in anorexia, bulimia, or extreme overtraining, my mind was in a completely different (and very dark) place.

Hi Tabs! Could you please talk a bit about memory loss during malnutrition? (Is it even a thing?!) When my partner, that was with me during my worst stages of my eating disorder, talks about what we used to get up previously and different things we have experienced together - I don’t seem to remember an awful lot. I even forget basic details about him (his birthday)…. I feel like an awful human being. I am in recovery and now I’m wondering if this is normal at all? 😩 (I did message on Instagram but I don’t know if you check messages there!) Thank you in advance!

I feel you here! I feel my memory is awful compared to everyone else. I am only 25 and honestly think I might have Alzheimer's as I cannot retain any information! Would be very curious to know if this improves with recovery!

hi, I just got extreme hunger but im confused to why now.. because I’ve been at a healthy weight for 4 months and I’ve had my period for 4 months and now I’m almost overweight and I feel like im starving all the time but im super super scared because even at this high weight I am still very scared of weight gain.. and also I’m always physically hungry but I never know what I want to eat, I don’t crave anything and we never have anything “unhealthy” at home. My mom always gives me a fruit when I’m hungry

Irrelevant of ED's, I feel the dogs are an essential, wondering how I could add that to my pack....

Hi Tabitha, When you begin working with (new) clients, do you ask them what they weigh (if they don’t offer this information right off the bat)? And does a client’s weight make any difference at all to you in terms of the kind of advice you give and how you communicate it to him/her? I've always wondered about this. Cheers.

Is it about the thoughts or the behaviours, because sometimes I feel that I still have some thoughts that labeling food or afraid of weight gain but I don't engage with them. So, is full recovery a cognitive or attitudinal concept?

As a “semi-recovered” anorexic, I’d say full recover is both cognitive and attitudinal; in the sense that you don’t have thoughts of, ie. restricting or moving more to compensate therefore the positive attitude changes come with that mind set. I know that’s a hard concept to grasp, even for me still. It’s very hard to imagine what it’s like to be full recovered when anorexia is all we’ve known for so so long. Keep pushing and living, you got this ❤
