Thank you for making such a great video. It's been very helpful! Just a little note, I believe you switched positions on the map for Le Pallet and Clisson, where Le Pallet should be north of Gorges and Clisson to the south.
You're right! My source for my map, the French Wine Scholar Study Guide (p. 137) has them inverted and shows them the way that I do, but I see that vinsvaldeloire.fr (a pretty reliable source) has them the way you suggested. Hopefully the good folks at the Wine Scholar Guild will make the appropriate correction for future editions. Thanks for the feed back and cheers!
Excellent video. I studied wine years ago with WSET but have forgotten much of the detail. Your clear, no nonsense, informative videos have been like a mini refresher course. Thanks again. Wine - what a great subject.
Thank you so much for making these videos and taking the time to do this. My experience isn't as strong with French geography as I've worked mostly with other parts of the world, and the geography can be so difficult with France. These videos are so incredibly helpful as I am studying my WSET 3 right now! Thank you.
Absolutely love Muscadet! Pairs very well with Sushi. Hope the first month of the year has been a good one for the winecaster! Looking forward for the part 2 & 3!!
Thanks UTB! Actually, as you'll find out tomorrow, it's looking like there's gonna be a Part IV as well. The Loire, it seems, is a harsh mistress. Looking forward to your next offering as always!
Hello from a new subscriber. Love your videos. They are helping me with my WSET Level 3 and I’m sure they will help when I begin the FWS course this June. Thanks!
Thank you for watching and subscribing. I'm glad you're finding the casts helpful. Good luck on both the WSET and then the FWS -- they're both great curricula. Cheers!
Hai.. my name is Vina (sounds same like Name of wine from Spain 😊 VinaSol) I am you a new subscriber And I try to understand how to learn about wine and everything But as a really 100% I am beginner It’s really difficult to me to get all into my brain 😢 Hope by watching you video I can understand Thank you for the wonderful video Can’t wait to see another video 😊🙏
Thank you very much for this and other videos on wine. They are very informative and give me an amazing opportunity to diversify my learning from books. I am wondering still if the Lower Loire has also sweet wines in its portfolio. You pointed out that one of the grape varieties of Fief Vendeens is Chenin Blanc. Since that grape is often to be found in sweet wines, I presume there could be a sweet wine there in that AOC. Could I be right on that one? And my intuition tells me that there are no sweet styles of Muscadet in any of its AOCs, probably because I have not met one yet and probably because Melon de Bourgogne does not possess characteristics to be a good sweet wine as I may think. I eagerly await for your response.
Thank you for your videos. Very informative, especially for WSET students. Do u have a subscription-based website where we can download the presentation as PDF?
Question! I have never in all my life heard someone refer to Melon DB as Melon Blanc. Is there a difference (i.e. one being a clone of another) or is it just user's choice?
Yes! They're DGCs (Dénominations Géographiques Complémentaires), not separate AOCs. I cover DGCs in the main cast on the Côte de Nuits, so you can find more information there. Cheers!
