This goblet has a stem with many constrictions, pincered bits, a gold-leaf edge, and flameworked flowers. See 360˚ photography and learn more about this object in The Techniques of Renaissance Venetian Glassworking by William Gudenrath renvenetian.cmo...
The Venetian glass industry enjoyed a golden age during the Renaissance. By the early 1500s, the wonders of Venetian glass were well known throughout western Europe. Not well known, however, was how these objects were made. Until now. The result of 30+ years of research by William Gudenrath, The Techniques of Renaissance Venetian Glassworking - renvenetian.cmo... - presents 35 complete reconstructions of Venetian glassmaking techniques through detailed 360˚ photography and high-definition video.

My awe at the artist's skill is nearly overshadowed at every step by my anxiety that this beautiful object is one tiny mistake away from being completely ruined. I can't get my heart rate to slow down!

So who else thinks this guy fire bends? Doesn't even need gloves, he just wills it to do his flower making bidding; and oh boy does it look fantastic!

Yes, this guy is an absolute master! Glassworkers never work with gloves because they need the freedom of movement.

Another glassblower (glassworker?) in the comments of her video was responding to a comment like this, and apparently the glass and maybe the flame too is only hot if you get really close, so you can be a few inches away with no problem?
@captainaleouse
@captainaleouse 6 лет назад
strange I would have though glass would conduct the heat very fast

blow pipe ponty blow pipe ponty, are they the same or diffrent because I can't tell,you are useing the words interchangeably at different points.Also these are interesting but long periods of silence are throwing me off please put music or more comentary / descriptions of what is happing. I'm just a random person on the internet who found these videos so I don't have a clue what terminology means unless you explicitly tell me. (you don't have to heed my feedback but I figure I'll give it so you have it) Good job you have me intrigued.

A blow pipe is an iron or steel tube, usually four to five feet long. Blowpipes have a mouthpiece at one end and are usually fitted at the other end with a metal ring that helps to retain the gather. A punty is a solid metal rod that is usually tipped with a wad of hot glass, then applied to the base of a vessel to hold it during the making process. So in short, blow pipes are hollow tubes, puntys are solid. Thanks for watching and for your feedback!

To be fair, at the end of the video you said blow pipe instead of punty. When he broke off the piece. The last attachment to the bottom of the goblet, should of been a punty.
