the pole is heavier in demo you can deflect easy with knives this will work only in enclosed spaces where the pole doesn't have room to breathe. in open space like this the pole will win . of course skill all comes in to play . im just talking about the weapon not the level of the individuals skill

I stopped watching the video when I realized that the "master" grabs the stick in the wrong way (at least according to the dictates of the wing chun) ....

Doesn't matter, it could be far superior to wing chung's way, and it could not, wing chung used to have many styles and it became apparent really soon that limiting yourself to certain principles without an open mind made for very poor in real world practice. During the video presentation there are shown reasons of why he holds it that way, and how it ads a significant greater number of uses for the pole.
