Wing is way too aggressive to be beaten. Everymove connected well and articulated. His downrock is much more than boring CC's he really looks like he's dancing to the music and not just with the music. Every song looks like it's his favorite song. That's why he couldn't loose.
lol you're agreeing with me, that's my point. He had to be at his absolute best to win, but normally that wouldn't be in a 1st round for Ronnie. That's why the other judges voted for him 2-1, while lilou and hong 10, who he has to do REALLY well for, voted against him. I'm not saying for SURE they're biased, but it seems pretty clear. They will naturally be tougher voting on a rival, it's that simple. And every close battle involving their own country, you know how they voted... no exceptions.
Agreed. Wing's pulls out some really original stuff. Mounnir's good (going to see him soon when he come to sydney!) but he repeated a lot of his rollbacks. Like, he used rollback pike in all of his sets.
Wing was awfully clean. Mounir seemed like he was a bit more on point though. I'd have to go with Mounir on this one. Neither bboy really messed up or cut a set short, but I just felt Mounir more in this battle. Props to both
I don't know how anyone can hate Wing's style. So what if a lot of his moves look rehearsed. No one gets on the floor and starts freestyling that type of intricate ground work and threading. Gotta practice it first, make sure it flows. His ill strings, blowups and uniqueness outshine all of that. And give him a break about a little flailing too. I'm 6'2" with bird legs so I know what it's like to try and control a lanky body. Most bboys are shorter so it makes him look awkward by comparison.
eh.not really. it is not same as saying maradona or pele is currently the best. but they can still tell whos the best better than average people. correct? and do u have to be the best to judge well?
I would go for Mounir if I were a judge, notice that Lilou's (who is THE most otstanding bboy out there) banner also said Mounir.. Both Lilou and Mounir tend to go with the flow and feel the rythm much better than others!
Mounir dances absolutely nothing like Lilou. As many times as I watch this battle, I still come up with Mounir winning. Not to say it wasnt the closest battle of 2008, but I just see Mounir edging over Wing by a bit.
You must be a fake Korean then ;) Wing's style (Threading) is a very difficult one to perfom well and with the flow that Wing has. He brought more variety and originality :) Mounir lacked what Wing had, but he did do well for someone who is not very known.
Most battles you can kinda see how it'd be one sided at about the 2nd round. This battle could've really gone either way though I agree with the judges.
Lilou and Hong 10 were both probably biased toward their own countrymen. And against Ronnie. As soon as I read that Ronnie lost in the Ronnie vs Kolobok battle, I thought to myself "lilou and hong 10 must've voted against him" and they did, in a close battle too (not saying anyone should've won, but just making a point). They were extra tough on him cause you know those two don't wanna see someone else win 2 of these when they both have won only 1. Rival bboys shouldn't be judging.

All I'm saying is that it seems like if it's a close match, they are gonna go for their own country or against their rival. Not "no matter what." If it's close. And that's happened every single close battle that i've seen yet, every year, go see for yourself. Think about it this way: who would vote tougher on Michael Jordan in a dunk contest in say 1989, Dominique Wilkins who won 2 with him, and who's an expert, or Rick Barry or Jerry West or some random white dude? Come on, get real.
Mounir's 1st at 2:41- 2:43 cant tell whether he playin around tryin to be funny or really trying to toprock salsa style looool. And i dont think Lilou likes Wing.

for the people that dont understand y wing won RB 08....its cuz he doesnt repeat moves every damn round n he has unique style..hes acrobatic n very smooth.....he amazes the judges with his style n moves at his age..hes very young n hes BBOY WING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!
im pretty sure those judges been bboying and know something about it too. probably more than you have and you do. otherwise they wouldnt be the judges for such competition or you would be so popular that everyone knows about you. correct?
Well threading looks to me much like rolling and sitting on the ground. Beside that it's my opinion and I really can not enjoy watching Wings style. It just bores me.
